Chapter 23: The Secret of Elemental Magic

The stinging pain of elemental magic pierced through him, deeply stimulating his nerves.

Harry lowered his head, trying to make the soul-rending pain disappear.

But just at that moment, Harry felt a coolness in his mind, and the pain vanished.

Harry didn't know what had happened, and he was momentarily stunned.

His expression was dazed. When he lifted his head again, he found that the figure had disappeared.

However, on the other side of the flames, there were more vines, which, regardless of the blazing fire, still lunged toward him.

Harry's expression changed again.

"Flames, burn!"

Flames surged into the sky, burning part of the attacking vines, but it couldn't stop the others from coming.

Harry Potter grew more anxious.

He could clearly feel that after casting several spells in a row, his magical power was almost depleted.

Just then, a gust of hot wind hit, and the anxious Harry suddenly realized.

"Wind, dance!"

Harry waved his wand, simultaneously channeling the little magic he had left.

In an instant, a strong wind swirled around him, lifting him into the air and allowing him to dodge the approaching vines.

But the swirling wind, like adding fuel to the fire, made the flames grow even larger, and the vines burned even more fiercely.

"Harry, save me!"

On the other side, the flames had already burned the vines that were entangling Hermione, and the poisonous gas from the flames made Hermione dizzy. She urgently called out to Harry for help.

Harry snapped out of his trance from the wind-element magic, and upon seeing Hermione falling from the sky as the flames burned away the vines around her, he was immediately shocked.

"Wind, dance!"

Harry waved his wand again, and a gust of wind caught Hermione as she fell, lifting her up and carrying them both away from the flames and vines, landing on the broad training field.

The vines were finally consumed by the raging fire.

Hermione landed with a gasp and marveled at the magic.

Relieved that Hermione was fine, Harry let out a sigh of relief, but due to his magical exhaustion, he staggered and fell to the ground.

Hermione hurriedly rushed over, helping him up. Looking at his pale face, she quickly asked, "Harry, what's wrong?"

"I…" Harry wanted to respond, but he couldn't speak immediately.

The feeling of his magic being drained left him with an unprecedented sense of weakness.

"Where's Ron?" After taking a deep breath, Harry suddenly remembered Ron and looked toward the fiery inferno. His face turned as pale as ever.

Hermione, upon hearing this, felt the same way.

"What should we do? What should we do? What should we do?" Hermione was frantic, her delicate little eyes brimming with tears.

Harry, in a panic, wanted to help, but he was too weak, and there was no magic left in him.

But soon, he saw Hermione's wand, and his eyes suddenly lit up.

"Hermione, now it's up to you to save Ron," Harry firmly said, holding Hermione's hand.

"How?" Hermione asked anxiously.

"Use your water-element magic to save Ron. Ron is still out of the range of the fire. You need to cover the areas that haven't been burned by the flames or extinguish them," Harry bit his lip, trying to calm himself, and spoke out the plan in his heart.

"But I don't know how to use water-element magic," Hermione said, her face pale and filled with difficulty.

She really wanted to help, but she hadn't learned the magic incantations from Callister yet.

"No, you can do it," Harry said, looking at Hermione with determination.

"I can't!" Hermione quickly responded.

At that moment, she was truly frightened.

She was afraid she couldn't help Ron and even more afraid that Ron would be burned to death by the fire that Harry had started.

Harry grabbed Hermione's hand, which held her wand, and said with conviction, "Hermione, Professor Callister didn't teach me the magic incantations, but I still managed to cast them just now."

"That was a secret."

"I believe you can do it too."

Hermione looked into Harry's green eyes, and suddenly, courage swelled within her as she turned to face the roaring flames.

Harry let go of Hermione's hand and picked up his wand, demonstrating for her: "Repeat after me: Water, churn!"

Hermione raised her wand and mimicked Harry's motion, chanting, "Water, churn!"

Magical power surged, and to Hermione's astonishment, the water elements in the air immediately gathered, forming a stream of water that rushed toward the roaring flames.

However, Hermione had just learned the spell and couldn't hold it for long.

The water only extinguished one spot of fire, which wasn't enough to withstand the massive blaze.

But Hermione didn't feel disheartened. She waved her wand again, saying, "Water, churn!"

This time, the spell lasted a little longer, managing to put out half of the flames.

Hermione took a deep breath, trying to cast again, but suddenly, a wave of dizziness hit her, and she stumbled, nearly falling to the ground. Her face turned pale.

"Hermione, what's wrong?" Harry asked.

"I've run out of magic," Hermione weakly replied.

Harry was stunned. She had cast only two spells, and yet, her magic was already depleted.

"Should we try a little harder? If we extinguish just one more spot, we could get through the fire to save Ron," Harry hesitated.

Upon hearing this, Hermione bit her lip, trying her best to hold onto her magic, but in the end, it was in vain.

"It still doesn't work!" Hermione bitterly said.

Harry felt despair.

"Your performance has exceeded my expectations."

At that moment, a voice sounded, and Harry and Hermione both shuddered. They looked up at the figure descending from the sky, and their hearts leaped in joy.

"Professor Callister!"

"Ron!"

Callister landed beside Harry, holding the unconscious Ron. He gently placed Ron on the ground and pulled out his wand, waving it as he said, "Dance of Water!"

In an instant, heavy rain poured down, extinguishing the flames.

To Harry and Hermione's surprise, a magical barrier surrounded them, preventing the rain from touching them and keeping them dry.

Callister smiled slightly, then cast another spell, saying, "Light of Hope!"

A small sun appeared, lighting up the entire Elemental Magic classroom and illuminating everything inside.

The once-new chairs were now mostly burned, along with the vines, and those that hadn't burned were now charred black.

Moreover, the entire Elemental Magic classroom was soaked, and the scene was a mess.

At that moment, the door to the Elemental Magic classroom opened, and Professors McGonagall and Dumbledore walked in.

Harry and Hermione's faces turned as pale as ever.

In that instant, Harry and Hermione were sure—things were about to get worse for them.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR GUYS!
