CHAPTER 6
He slowly placed his palm on his hurting cheek as he watched her quickly storm out of the room without bothering to question him about his main reason for bringing her there.
He had told her he would tell her once they got there, and she seemed okay with it, but their journey had been far more perilous for her than she had anticipated.
Perhaps it was the reason for her sudden outburst but he didn't want to ponder much on it.
" Well, so much for her hand being able to reach her face." He thought, falling to his knees, " Now I'll just have to wait until it finally happens."
Ding!
[Target has achieved a milestone: External energy talent awakening]
[Obtaining tenfold the rewards]
[Semi-rank five light energy control]
" So that's how far she managed to get with her awakening. Thank goodness I decided to go on with the experiment rather than wait for her." He mumbled as he slowly got up from the floor.
He was done with what he had come for and slowly walked away after that from the shrine.
A bright smile was on his face as he thought about every other expectation and aspiration he had.
His external awakening was one thing he had wanted to happen but never came; without light, there couldn't be fusion and so the inability to perform the art of sorcery.
He had been lucky so far, but he couldn't get ahead of himself; if there was one thing he feared, then it was the fact that the system went against the direct laws of nature of the world.
He looked towards the exit where she had walked out from just a moment ago, knowing very much the injury she incurred on their way here.
She may have been able to bear through the pain, but it wouldn't be long before she would fall once again. He quickly ran outside the building and after her, hoping she wouldn't have gone far.
" Hey, Yuki!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, quickly running down the stairs towards her.
She ignored his calls, as she furiously walked down in fury. Her legs still ached as she struggled to place them well enough to have her feel too much pain.
As such, her pace was very slow and before she could make it down half the stairs, he was already in front of her.
" Leave me alone." She mumbled, turning her face to the side.
" You'll only make your wound worse if you continue like this." He stated, slowly turning his gaze to her feet, " I... can carry you home if you don't mind."
Her eyes widened for a moment as she turned her face back towards him for a moment. It seemed she actually considered the idea in that instant, but the frown that was once on her face immediately returned.
" I think I just forgot why I'm even angry at him?" She thought, turning away her gaze from him once again.
" Well, I guess I'll just have to wait until it heals."
With that, she turned around and slowly returned to the shrine, staggering forward as she groaned in pain. He was simply surprised at the resilience she was showing for simply no reason.
First, she slapped him and now went on to play the victim while he had to play along with her. The only guilt he felt was that he was the one who persuaded her and should return the favor by at least making sure she got home safely.
And on that note, he wanted to leave as soon as soon as possible with her. His gaze shifted towards her once again and it turned out that she was sitting on the floor with her shoes off.
" Call me when you're ready to leave." He said, quickly walking away
She turned away as he spoke, clenching her fist as she bit down on her lower lip. She was breathing heavily as she stared intensely at the floor.
And after a while of trying to hold back her rage, she turned her gaze once again to see that he had already left.
" So, he actually left me alone here." She thought, slowly trying to get up from the floor. She tripped as soon as soon as she got up, falling face down on the ground.
" Damnit!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.
She tried to get up once again, but her body refused to give in once again. Slowly, felt the energy inside her body continue to quickly drain away as she fell into the subconscious.
She couldn't tell what was happening to her at that moment, and just before she could open her mouth to call out his name, everything turned dark.
******
Megumi had only jumped down from the staircase while she wasn't watching and was standing under it with his thoughts still fixed entirely on her. He didn't want to leave her there, especially not in her current state.
But still, though, he had already told her to call him if she ever needed him. She would eventually, and he just knew it.
" I should be expecting one word from her by now, what could be the reason for her not saying anything." He thought, looking up.
He couldn't see anything due to the wall obstructing his view and while he stood there waiting, he felt the sky slowly turning darker with each passing moment.
It was about to start raining and she was still stuck back at the entrance of the shrine all by herself.
" I never thought she would be so stubborn." He thought, quickly taking to his heels. He quickly ran up the stairs, breathing heavily in his bid to get there as quickly as he could.
He was left stunned at what he saw next. Though Yuki was lying on the ground unconscious, he felt a great amount of light energy swirling around her.
He heaved a sigh as she slowly walked towards her and lifted her up from the floor. Although her face had loosened a bit, the frown on her face was still apparent even as she slept.
" Well now, let's go home, Yuki no." He mumbled, slowly approaching the stairs.
He carried her home after having healed the wound on her ankle with the help of his dark energy. He could have done everything earlier if only she had complied, but in the end, it was already too late for him to reach her house.
The rain began to pour down heavily, but he couldn't stay at their house, not one second later.
" Hey Yuki, come on, stand up." He said, slowly letting her down as he proceeded to knock on the door.
It was immediately opened up as her elder sister came running towards the both of them with her eyes bearing concern. They immediately lit up the moment she laid eyes on him, knowing now that her sister was finally back.
" Please come in." She said, opening the door wider.
She slowly stepped out of the way as well, with eyes keenly kept on her sister, who was still half asleep. She immediately rushed towards her after opening the door, slowly pulling her away from Megumi's grip.
" Just you wait you damn son of our sect leader. As soon as I get fine I'll make sure to make you regret what you did to me." Yuki mumbled, slowly wrapping her hands around her sister's neck, " I'm tired take me to bed."
" She doesn't mean what she's saying." His sister quickly said, looking towards him with a smile.
Megumi quickly smiled back at her as he slowly walked into the house. Now he was nothing but weary as he could already see the ill intent reserved that smile he had received just now.
" Please wait a moment." She added, slowly helping her sister towards her room.
As soon as she was done she immediately came down from the stairs bearing a smile on her face as usual while holding an umbrella in her hand.
" Your parents must be worried about you, I was hoping you could go home as quickly as possible." She said, offering him the umbrella.
" I guess it is to be expected. Now she's so eager to have me out of their home." He thought, slowly reaching out his hand for the umbrella.
She quickly retreated from the object at that moment, gazing straight into his eyes as she said, " But first of all, aren't going to at least try to explain what my sister meant. I'll kill you if you hurt her in any way."
" I didn't hurt her, okay?" He replied, turning away with a sigh, "The abundance of energy was just too great for her to handle, so she ended up collapsing while I was away from her side. Nevertheless, she did awaken her external energy force so she could begin her talent awakening right away."
She bowed her head slightly with the smile still present as she quickly led him to the exit before quickly closing the door behind him.
" Megumi huh? He's interesting but a bit too endearing to have by my sister's side." She thought, heaving a sigh as she locked the door, slowly making her way upstairs.
