(Nanny Tessa's POV)
When Sasha brought him home tonight, I knew something bad had happened to him.
I have been taking care of Reese ever since he was a baby and I could tell immediately when all was not okay with him.
This time , it was bad.
I helped Sasha carry him upstairs, we changed him into his night clothes and put him to bed. He didn't struggle or protest, which was shocking.
The Reese I had nurtured would be screaming at the top of lungs by now.
What could have happened to him.
I draped his blankets over him and patted his head gently like old times, then I walked out of the room turning off the lights and closing the door behind me.
As soon as I left the room. I grabbed Sasha by the arm and dragged her to the kitchen.
"What on earth happened to Reese? The last time I saw him like this was at his parents funeral and even then wasn't this bad". I querried.
"Nana, he is heartbroken " Sasha answered.
My eyes widened in disbelief, Seth had loved him as much he had loved Seth, so I didn't believe they could ever part ways.
"How do you mean?" I pried on.
"Seth was a spy, Nana, and when Reese went to confront him about it he broke up with him"
I guess Sasha could read my confusion because she began to explain the situation in details.
My mind was a whirlwind, I almost lost my balance before Sasha caught me and led me to sit on the kitchen stool.
This can't be happening, not to poor Reese. He had lost too much. Endured too much pain.
I began to cry.
Sasha patted my back and comforted me the much she could.
"Nana, pull yourself together. Reese needs us now more than ever. We have to be strong for him."
I nodded, wiping the tears from my face with the paper towel she handed me.
"I need to get going, it's very late and I have work to do tomorrow. " she added.
"Thank you Sasha for being a good friend " I said patting her hand.
She gave me a peck on my chin, before heading for the door.
I stood up to go shower from the day's sweat, but my mind was still rilling.
********************
I lay there on the bed, tossing and turning. Sleep became a stranger.
I heard noises in the kitchen, I sat up, listening carefully.
It was the sound of hot water boiling, spoon clinking with the tea cup and the dining seat scraping the floor.
I knew Reese was up, I got out of bed, switching my bedside lamp on, I put on my nightwear outer robe and headed to the kitchen.
He was seated on the dining table in the kitchen, in the dark. I switched the lights on and he let out a small cry of pain.
"Nana, the light hurts my eyes" he said, shielding the light from his face with his hands.
"Since when do light hurt your eyes?" I asked teasingly.
"Since I got up to make tea, Nana" he answered in protest.
But amid the tease he was serious. Reese didn't open his eyes while we talked or lifted his face.
'No! This can't be!' I thought to myself.
"I am so sorry about Seth" I started, very mindful not to strike a nerve.
"Nana, I still don't know what went wrong, we were perfect for each other. Mated to each other. How can he just give it up like it meant nothing?!" His voice was beginning to rise.
I patted his back, "He was your mate?"
"Yes, Nana, we were mates".
"Were?"
"Yes, were, Nana, he rejected the bond"
I froze, I had no idea they were mated. I thought he was just deeply inlove with Seth.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" I asked, half crying.
"I thought you knew, Nana" he said, rubbing his forehead with his fingers.
"Having a headache?" I asked
"Yes, and a little dizzy".
"Oh no! It can't be happening! This can't be happening!" I mumbled to myself as I hurried him to bed.
"What can't be happening Nana? I feel very tired"
"More reason you should go back to sleep".
I guided him back to his room and tucked him in, fear written all over me as I watched him sleep.
