Killer system

Chapter 4

Liam's eyes snapped open, the harsh overhead lights stabbing into his vision. His chest heaved, panic flooding his veins as he tried to lift his hand—it wouldn't move. His body felt like dead weight. He was strapped down, paralyzed and powerless. His pulse hammered in his ears.

What the hell was happening? Was he dead?

Muffled voices floated around him. A figure in a surgical gown leaned over—calm, precise—arranging tools on a tray with clinical indifference. Liam's blood ran cold. That wasn't just a doctor. This bastard was prepping to carve him up for parts.

Adrenaline surged. Not like this. He wouldn't die on some filthy operating table at the hands of a scavenger. He tried struggling to get off the table, but he couldn't feel nor move his body. They had completely paralyzed his whole body, preventing him from moving or speaking.

His head lolled to the side, catching a glimpse of Chris and David—both unconscious and strapped down like him.Liam bit his lip in dispair, he felt helpless, he couldn't save himself nor his comrades.

Whatever there is, angel or devil, please....please give me a shot at killing these bastards.

The operation soon began, Liam tried his best to struggle, to scream, to move, but all his efforts were futile. After several hours of operating, the machine stopped beeping as soon as Liam's heart was removed.

{Scanning complete, perfect host detected. First mission successful, regrow organs and revive host.}

Those were the words that were written on the air as Liam's eyes snapped open, he gasped, his heart thudding violently in his chest. He hurriedly sat up, raising his hand as he clenched and unclenched his fist, trying to confirm if he was truly alive.

The doctor who had just moved over to Chris to carry on with harvesting his organs turned abruptly upon hearing noise from behind. His eyes widened in horror as he stared at Liam, refusing to believe his eyes.

Liam looked up, trying to make sense of the words written in the air, he reached to touch the words, but something seemed to prevent his hand from passing through, something like a screen.

Just then, the words on the screen changed.

{New mission, kill the doctor before you, or your heart will stop beating and you'll die.}

Liam's brows furrowed, "you don't need to tell me twice, I was about to anyway." He mumbled under his breath and slowly stood up. But then, he paused. He felt strange, his body felt light, lighter than ever, and he could feel strength cursing through his veins.

A smirk curved on his lips as he slowly approached the doctor, who was still having a hard time understanding what was going on.

"Did you have fun harvesting my organs?" Liam asked, cracking his knuckles as he approached the doctor with a smirk, The doctor froze, scalpel clattering to the floor. His face drained of color.

"What in the world are you? Don't come close, don't you dare..." He wasn't done speaking when Liam moved faster than he ever thought possible, his hand locking around the doctor's throatlifting him up in the air, his legs dangling as he struggled to free himself from Liam's strong hold.

"Shut the hell up you bastard, I asked you...did you have fun harvesting my organs? How many people have you butchered on this table? Did you kill my kids like this too? Did they beg you for mercy? Liam's voice was a low growl, his eyes red with rage. His grip tightened, his veins becoming more pronounced as he squeezed tighter on the doctors neck

The next second, there was a loud crack and next came the splatter of blood that sprayed over Liam's face, an obvious sign that he had just killed someone with his bare hands, and so effortlessly. His eyes widened in shock, he doesn't remember having this amount of strength.

He let go of the already dead doctor, and the body crumbled to the floor like a broken doll. Liam's gaze looked up to find the screen still there, new words had appeared on the screen. {mission successful, reward... 1 EXP point.}

"What are you?" Liam muttered, wiping the blood off his face. He ignored the rising nausea and focused on the screen. Right now, all he could think about was ending victor's life cold blood, and not wasting time reading some random strange words appearing in the air.

{I'm your savior, and from now on, I'm your master.}

"My Master? You must be kidding, I've got no time for this." Liam snapped, turning away to walk out but the words only reappeared in his front again.

{If you don't acknowledge me as your master, I'll have to take back the life I just bestowed you.}

Liam's frown deepened, he inhaled and exhaled deeply, trying to calm down. It actually didn't made sense, His heart should be gone. His body should be lying cold on that slab. And yet… here he was. Alive. Stronger than ever.

"What are you exactly?" Liam asked again, his tone calmer this time.

{I'm known as the ultimate killer system, I exist to destroy evil, and I have decided to use you to fulfill my wishes}

"Why me?" Liam asked, his fist clenched, still trying to make sense of the bizzar situation.

{Your rage summoned me. Your hatred made you worthy. You wanted power to destroy the monsters who took everything from you, after making sure you were deserving, I chose you as my host.}

Liam exhaled slowly, muscles coiled with tension. "So, you revived me? That aside, how exactly does this work? I don't have time to waste on any unnecessary discussions, and quit with the text—just talk. It's exhausting to read when I'm angry."

{I see you've got a temper, well... unfortunately, I haven't decided yet if I can trust you, so I won't reveal myself to you yet. I'll prefer we communicate like this, bear with it.}

"Just answer the damn question, how does this work?" Liam snapped, Time was slipping away, and every second wasted brought Victor closer to breathing a little longer.

{You're to offer a daily sacrifice, with every person you kill, I'll add one day to your life span. And note, you'll only kill evil people from now one, the day you kill an innocent person is the day your life ends Liam Carter.}
