Chapter 15 – The Path of True Power

Kalen stood before Li Zhi, his body still aching from the journey. He expected some grand revelation or hidden technique to unlock his power, but instead, Li Zhi's piercing gaze held nothing but disappointment.

"Too weak." The words cut through the air like a blade. "You are not ready to wield the bloodline's power."

Kalen clenched his fists. "But I already—"

Li Zhi raised a hand, silencing him. "What you did before was nothing more than an accident. A moment of desperation. Power that comes without control is no power at all."

Seraphine, standing at Kalen's side, frowned. "Then what do you suggest? He needs to get stronger."

Li Zhi smirked. "Oh, he will. But first, he must start from the beginning."

Li Zhi led Kalen to an open courtyard surrounded by towering stone pillars etched with ancient runes. "Your bloodline is strong, but it sleeps within you. You must wake it yourself, or it will devour you the next time you lose control."

With a flick of his wrist, the ground trembled as an enormous stone tablet rose from beneath the earth. Inscribed on its surface were cryptic symbols glowing with dark energy.

"This is the first step." Li Zhi tapped the stone. "Sit before it. Meditate. Feel the pulse of your blood. If you cannot even hear its call, then there is nothing I can teach you."

Kalen frowned. "That's it? Meditate?"

Li Zhi chuckled. "You think power is just about swinging your sword or throwing spells? Foolish. Your body and mind must be in harmony with your bloodline. If you fail this, you will never truly control it."

Kalen exhaled sharply and sat down, crossing his legs before the massive tablet. He closed his eyes, trying to focus. At first, there was nothing but silence, but then... a faint thrum in his veins. Like something ancient stirring deep within him.

Hours passed. Kalen remained still, sweat dripping from his brow. His breathing grew ragged as the pressure in his body built up, like a dam struggling to hold back a flood. The tablet's runes pulsed brighter, reacting to his presence.

Then—

A sharp pain shot through his chest. His eyes flew open, glowing briefly with a dark crimson hue before fading. He gasped for air.

Li Zhi observed him with an unreadable expression. "Not bad for a first attempt. But you are still far from ready."

Kalen wiped his forehead, frustrated. "What was that?"

"The bloodline stirring. The more you push, the more it will respond. But be warned—forcing it too fast will destroy you."

Seraphine stepped forward. "How long will this take?"

Li Zhi's eyes gleamed. "As long as it needs to. He will not leave this place until he has awakened properly."

Kalen swallowed hard. This was only the beginning.
