Alexander's expression suddenly turned grim.
Olivia swiftly interjected: "Lily Parker, are you really that full of yourself? Alexander was merely toying with you. If anyone's ending things, it's him leaving you!"
However, Alexander approached me threateningly: "You want to end our relationship? You don't have that privilege."
"The decision isn't yours to make about what rights I have."
I departed without looking back.
The other people present attempted to ease the tension: "Come on, she's just a small-town girl. It was nothing serious, Alexander, don't let it bother you."
"She's just being difficult. Don't worry, she'll come begging for you in no time."
Olivia's spirits noticeably lifted. She offered Alexander a beverage.
"You're not actually upset, are you? Lily Parker simply doesn't understand her position."
But Alexander shattered the glass, the crashing sound instantly hushing the room.
After a pause, he spoke deliberately: "It's alright. Carry on with your drinks."
That evening, though, he repeatedly checked his phone, never receiving my customary goodnight message.
Olivia wasn't just making idle threats. She genuinely intended to have me removed from school.
The inevitable confrontation finally occurred.
I skipped class one day, concealing myself behind the bed curtain, observing Olivia, who should have been in lectures, sneaking into the dormitory.
She was carrying a brand-new Louis Vuitton wallet.
I swiftly took out my phone, capturing video of her placing the wallet in my locker.
At midday, Olivia cornered me in the classroom with a group of people.
She gazed at me confidently, inquiring: "Lily Parker, my wallet's disappeared. You're always closest to me, did you take it?"
The classroom was crowded, with even the entrance packed with onlookers.
I calmly responded: "Do you have any evidence?"
Olivia smirked: "Evidence? Of course I do. Your family's the poorest, naturally you couldn't resist when you saw something valuable."
"If you'd asked nicely I would have given it to you. But you chose to steal. If that's not thievery, what is it?"
People around us murmured, many students pulling out their phones to record.
Theft was scandalous anywhere, particularly in university!
"Fine, it's just a wallet. I'll compensate you for it."
Alexander's voice came from outside, the crowd parting to allow him through.
He appeared to be coming to my defense.
But I hadn't done anything wrong, why should I accept false accusations?
I persisted: "Olivia, do you have any proof?"
Alexander frowned at me: "Lily, don't escalate this. I won't be able to help if you do."
Olivia erupted: "Alexander Mitchell, are you really siding with her? What's so special about this poor scholarship student that you fancy? Without me, she'd never have even met you in this lifetime!"
He wasn't truly on my side. He clearly doubted me too, just wanting to save face by intervening.
But Olivia recklessly continued: "I'll tell you what, I've already discovered the wallet in her locker."
Her friends also testified: "We genuinely saw the wallet in her locker with our own eyes."
"Lily Parker, what else can you say for yourself?"
"A thief like you doesn't deserve to be at our school! You should be expelled!"
The accusing stares around me felt like daggers.
Olivia approached me arrogantly, whispering: "You're not fit to compete with me!"
But I simply smiled, directly connecting my phone to the classroom's large screen.
"Then let everyone witness how the wallet ended up in my locker."
