Chapter 10 - Champagne Decisions

Isabella’s POV

By the time Ethan returned, I’d already finished my third glass of champagne, and a soothing warmth had taken root in my belly. I shifted awkwardly so the empty glasses on the table weren’t in clear view.

Whether Ethan had noticed them or not was hard to tell by his inscrutable expression as he stopped directly in front of me. His gaze moved over my face, and I bit my lips nervously.

Had he seen them? Was he going to be upset I had drunk so much?

“Let’s go home,” Ethan said simply and held out his hand for me to take.

The drive home was in silence, and by the time we arrived back at the house, that third glass of champagne had settled in nicely. So much so that I stumbled several times as Ethan led me into the foyer. Thankfully, he didn’t comment about my less-than-graceful stride.
