Isabella’s POV
I was at an impasse. I had no way of leaving the house by myself. Lately, I haven't worried overly much about Ethan's insistence on a security team. Sure, in my previous life, I'd chafed at what appeared to be a spiteful restriction. I had often attempted to sneak away and had always gotten caught. Except for that one time…and look how that had ended up.
I was more understanding this time around—at least I had been because I didn't have anywhere important to go anyway.
But I did now.
I had no idea how I would elude Ethan's security to meet with James. And I had to.
Because I couldn't let Ethan know about it.
He seemed particularly volatile when it came to James. Even the mention of the other man’s name set him off. Though I was no longer under the same illusions about James as I had been, I somehow knew that Ethan would react the same way now as Ethan of the past would have.
