Isabella’s POV
“To our department’s ace!”
Several glasses clinked together. And the table’s occupants were so far into their cups, that most of the beer ended up on the table during the cheer.
My flush was mostly due to embarrassment. “Please don’t go around calling me that,” I groaned, looking around at everyone’s flushed face. Everyone would need to be driven home tonight.
Everyone was already too drunk to notice that I wasn’t drinking as much. Ethan had looked a bit faint when I told him I would be going out with a few members of the office after work. I could tell he wanted to disagree immediately, but he hadn’t. He’d bit his tongue, and then I had sat through a thirty-minute lecture with him about how dangerous it could be if I drank too much and something were to happen when he wasn’t with me.
