Chapter 57 - An Awakening

Isabella’s POV

Ethan…I’m sorry.

I needed to find him.

Ethan…why can’t you just tell the truth?

I needed to see him.

Ethan, where’s my father? What happened to Mom? Do you know? Did you have something to do with it?

My feet felt heavy as I dragged them across the cold floor of the hospital room. Pain echoed with every step, and my vision blurred ever so often as the room spun. As I dragged myself forward, I had to press my hand against the wall to maintain my balance.

I needed…Ethan.

I needed to know…

“Miss Isabella?”

“Ethan…” I gasped as my muscles seized painfully. I lost the strength in my legs, and the room tilted. Strong arms banded around me before I could hit the ground.

“I need a doctor!” someone called.

I struggled to move, but the arms gripping me were like shackles.

“Let go!”

“Miss Isabella—”

“Ethan…”
