 A few days passed, and I found myself not wanting to do much. Jace, Ava, and Kas had all taken turns checking on me and encouraging me to stay positive about the situation.


Kas had told me about the park, and, after some back and forth, I agreed to go for a stroll with her. Thinking about her final plea made me grin. "Tori, if you don't come with me, I'll drag you there. Do you want me to do that?"


She surely knew how to get her way, I had to give it to her. The giggles we had when I told her there was no way I'd let her drag me around did brighten my mood.


The park was a sprawling green space, with flower beds in full bloom and ancient, shady trees dotting the landscape. It was even more charming than she had painted it to be. Stepping foot in there lifted my spirits. Kas and I meandered along the winding paths for hours, enjoying the fresh air and the gentle rustling of the leaves.
