confusions

Ayla woke up and saw she was alone, with her heart pounding away in her chest. Still shaking slightly from the built up rage of what she just saw, she took a moment to recollect her thoughts. Was this some kind of joke or silly nightmare?

Raising her hand from the bed, she stared hard at the strange hand she was looking at. It was nothing like her firm toned hand, this was looking so pale and frail. Seeing a mirror at the far end of the room, she slowly rose from the bed.

"Ouuuu". She winced as she removed the needle that was inserted Into her hand.

Breathing a deep sigh, she slowly got off the bed and almost fell when she left the bed. Gripping the bed, she managed to steady her shaky leg. After collecting herself, she slowly walked to the mirror and almost screamed at the image before her.

Staring back at her with wide eyes was a girl with skin so pale she looked unreal. Her hair was a light blond that was a sharp contrast with her piercing blue eyes. Even her lips have lost their warmth, leaving them blue.

"What the hell!". She muttered.

But she was confused because the girl she had seen in her vision wasn't like this. Though the girl had been looking frail, shs didn't look like this, nor was her hair this colour. Even her eyes had been a dull blue. 'What was going on? Was this the effect of the poison?' she wondered.

"How am I going to survive like this? This body is so weak I could easily be knocked out by a heavy wind". She turned, observing the tiny body inside the oversized hospital gown.

"Such pale skin....

"Omg, you're awake!".

Ayla was startled by a voice behind her. Turning swiftly, she saw it was a nurse with disbelief written boldly on her face. Because she turned too fast and her legs were wobbly, she lost her balance and crumbled to the floor.

"Dammit". Ayla cursed, hating how weak she felt.

"Oh no, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. Let me help you to your bed". The nurse hurried to Ayla and helped her to her bed.

"How is this girl able to wake up and even walk to the mirror? First she is poisoned but somehow survives and now she is able to walk around? She must be possessed and I need to stay away from her". The nurse thought as she helped Ayla to her bed.

She has been in this field of work for 10 years and she has never seen anything like this! What other explanation is there to give, aside from the fact that the girl is possessed?.

When Ayla was finally settled back in her bed, she heaved a sigh. She has a lot of training to do because her body is too weak.

"I will get the doctor immediately". The nurse said and hurried out of the room as if chased by someone.

Ayla understood very well. She had noticed how the nurse looked at her with disdain and a little bit of fear. In fact, she could correctly guess what was going on in her mind by the way her heartbeat increased drastically as she helped her back to the bed.

Ayla didn't blame the nurse, she would be scared shitless if it were her. Even now, she was still confused, thinking of this was some sort of silly nightmare.

"Where do I start from?". Ayla wondered as her mind roamed, swimming though memories that floated in her head.

The door burst open and Ayla looked up to see it was her foster mother, Mrs Cecily, accompanied by her fiance. She scrunched her nose in disgust at their nerves. After failing to kill her, they dare to show their faces here, pretending like they know nothing?

"Ayla baby, I'm glad you're awake". Mrs Cecily said and rushed to her side.

'Why don't you just die already'. Mrs Cecily wondered as she plastered a fake smile on her face and rushed to Ayla. For a moment, she had thought Ayla was finally gone but no, she had to wake up again.

"We were so scared". Mrs Cecily said, rubbing Ayla's arm.

Ayla wouldn't be fooled, she had seen All the nasty things this woman has done so she can as well drop the act already. Even her voice was laced with hate.

"How are you doing my love?". Caleb said as he went to meet her too. As he neared her, images of how he had watched her die flooded her mind, making her curl her fist in rage.

"why don't you talk to me or your fiance, he hasn't slept since you were rushed to the hospital". Mrs Cecily piped in, when she saw Ayla was just staring at them with a blank expression.

"Baby, what is it?". Caleb asked again, kissing his teeth. Damn, he didn't care what she wanted, he just wanted her gone already. If not for Mrs Cecily that dragged him here, he would never have stepped foot into this hospital. What irked him more was the fact that her eyes held so much courage and determination, it was different from the girl he once knew that was so timid she couldn't even keep an eye contact.

What then is giving her the nerve to stare blankly at him, causing him to lose his composure!

A small cough from Mrs Cecily got his mind back on track. She gave him a warning look as she sensed he was getting tired and irritated. She was also getting tired of Ayla's new attitude and composure. What has gotten into her?

Does she know they poisoned her? No, it cannot be.

He refrained from rolling his eyes and leaned more into Ayla. Now staring close at her, his composure was starting to crumble again. The Ayla he knows has a set of dull blue eyes but this girl staring disdainfully back at him had the brightest set of eyes he has ever laid eyes on.

"Is anything the problem? Please refrain from coming too close to me". Ayla spat.

She just couldn't bear it anymore. As she stared at him, she had flashes of all the disgusting things he had done to her, which she had overlooked over the years because she was blinded by her own illusion.

"Silly girl, what has come over you! Is this how you show gratitude to us? By shunning us?". Mrs Cecily said. She couldn't keep mute any longer. Why does she suddenly feel she has the right to talk to them in that manner!

"Don't raise your voice at me, I've said nothing wrong". Ayla replied in a firm voice. She was so pissed off by their pretentious act but was trying to control herself.

Shocked at her outburst, there was silence in the room as they both stared at Ayla like she had grown two heads.
