Chapter 47: The Rebellious Girl

The technology is second only to the Wakandan Aircraft.

The Quinjet is used in various air operations by S.H.I.E.L.D. members, whether for combat missions, troop transport, or supply distribution. Without the Quinjet, many S.H.I.E.L.D. operations would not run smoothly.

A significant commotion arose when the "Book of Darkhold" was sacrificed. Given the impact of that event, it is not surprising that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s attention was drawn to what was happening. They have always been interested in extraordinary power, and it seems that Lance, with his newly developed abilities, has caught their eye.

However, in a certain sense, S.H.I.E.L.D. is not much different from Hydra. Both organizations share a desire to control the lives of others, especially those with extraordinary abilities. Before Lance felt his power was sufficient to confront them, he knew it was better to avoid direct involvement with S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now, with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s arrival, Lance knew it was time to leave, rest, and sleep.

Lance paused for a moment, contemplating his next move. With determination, he quickly drew an invisibility spell in the air, channeling the energy from the Lantern Ring that still enveloped his body. With a swift motion, Lance slapped the spell onto himself, merging it with his body in an almost invisible protective layer.

Carefully, he controlled the Lantern Ring's energy, focusing his power to lift himself off the ground. Lance's body began to float slowly, passing through a large hole in the roof, and in an instant, he soared into the sky at a dangerous speed.

Lance's presence was nearly undetectable, leaving only a faint trail of light following his movements. The sky above him appeared vast and empty, but Lance knew he had to be cautious.

With the new energy he possessed, Lance flew higher, heading to a place far from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s attention, in search of peace and a moment of rest.

...

...

...

Lance couldn't fly too fast. There were two main reasons for this: first, Lance's flying skills were still not well-honed; and second, Lance's energy supply was insufficient to maintain high speeds for long periods.

Lance had to carefully control his speed, especially when passing through the atmosphere and exploring outer space. Even so, Lance's speed was still much higher compared to regular passenger planes, making it difficult for anyone to catch up with him.

However, having the ability to fly freely in the air was already an extraordinary privilege. Did you know? Among the many superheroes in the Marvel universe, only a handful have the ability to fly. Therefore, this ability gave Lance a significant advantage, both in combat and mobility.

After returning home without drawing anyone's attention, Lance carefully retrieved his avatar charm. The "Lance Clone" was designed to maintain his alibi. The clone wouldn't continue reading in the workspace all night—it would look too suspicious.

Instead, after the scheduled time, the clone would automatically go to the bedroom to "sleep." This way, no one would suspect that Lance was actually somewhere else.

As long as his physical form indicated that Lance was home when the Fox Night Club was raided, Lance's alibi was solid enough.

*Knock-knock-knock!*

The knock on the door broke the morning silence.

Lance, who was busy making breakfast, turned to the surveillance camera at the front door.

It was Lance's neighbor.

Lance immediately opened the door and greeted the middle-aged man standing there. "Hello, Coleman. How can I help you?"

Coleman, a white man with a down-to-earth appearance and a friendly personality, was Lance's best neighbor. Coleman was well-known in the neighborhood for his sociable nature.

With an exaggerated hand gesture, Coleman said, "Lance, I just wanted to remind you about the party this weekend. Don't miss it again! The neighbors are starting to think you're too reclusive, and you know, our culture here is different. I know you're Chinese and might be more introverted, but all the other Chinese families in the neighborhood always attend. If you miss it three times in a row, people might misunderstand."

Lance rubbed his forehead in slight frustration and then said in a resigned tone, "Coleman, thanks for the reminder. I'll keep it in mind and definitely attend."

Westerners are indeed known for their love of parties. Whenever there's an opportunity, a party is sure to be held—academic parties, political parties, graduation parties, holiday parties, and even birthday parties. They seem never to tire, as if parties are their way of maintaining social connections to avoid feeling isolated.

The party Coleman was talking about this time was a community family gathering. The participants consisted of all the residents living in the area. Each person brought something—crafts, snacks, drinks, or fruits. The women were usually busy gossiping about makeup, while the children were engrossed in talking about games and animations. In short, the content of the parties was always the same and boring for Lance.

Lance had attended a few times but always felt there was nothing interesting. Because of that, Lance often looked for excuses not to go. However, in the eyes of Westerners, Lance's habit was considered unfriendly.

Coleman, known as a kind-hearted man, was the organizer of this party. Therefore, it was difficult for Lance to refuse his request.

Lance's promise to attend made Coleman look very pleased. Pointing to the villa on the right, Coleman said, "So, come to my house at eight o'clock this weekend. Don't forget!"

"Okay, I'll definitely come," Lance replied with a slight smile.

"Well then, I'll take my leave. Have a great day," Coleman said cheerfully before turning around and walking home.

Lance had just intended to close the door when the ringtone of his phone sounded. He picked up his phone, saw the name on the screen, and answered the call.

"Ethan, how's it going?" Lance asked in a serious tone.

On the other end of the line, Ethan's steady voice could be heard, though it sounded a bit tired. "We've found Albino's location. He is currently living in a building in Long Island."

As expected from an elite CIA agent, Ethan didn't take long to gather the necessary information.
