~{MARIAH'S POV}~
*
(10:60 PM AT NIGHT)
"Miss Mariah?"
"Yes, Mr Greene?"
I answered and faced him the moment he entered the room.
"I and the other authorities will be taking our leave now so we can search the entire town. Kindly wait here with Miss Frances," he instructed.
"What about her mother?" I worriedly inquired.
"I already informed her. She understands." He answered.
"We'll lock you here and please don't open the door for your own safety," he warned.
"I won't."
"We got a call that people have gone missing, mostly teenagers and youths."
At his words, I gasped in disbelief.
"With the way things are going, I'm beginning to think we're fighting more than one monster. Please stay safe," he said and left while making sure to lock the door from outside.
I sat there in shock as my heart kept racing. The thought of facing a creature similar to Logan was quite frightening.
Facing Frances, I sighed and touched her left cheek.
I had tried several times to get in but I couldn't and it amazed me how he could do that. I had little knowledge on vampires but this one was far too strange. How could a vampire inhabit someone's mind? It was very unusual.
With determination, I decided to try one more time.
"You need to let me in, Frances. It's your mind not his," I whispered as I touched both sides of her temples in preparation to access her mind.
I inhaled and exhaled continuously but in a calm way as I got myself ready. But before I could focus, I heard the door make a sound as if someone was unlocking it, causing me to get distracted.
I got up and frowned in confusion.
"Mr Greene?" I called out just to be certain it was him. And when the door came open, it was truly him.
"Did you forget something?"
Instead of answering my question, he walked into the room and came to stand right in front of Frances as he observed her.
"Did you find something that might help?" I asked while watching him closely because he seemed strange.
"Yes. She's the one I'm looking for."
At his words, I frowned only for him to face me while smiling evilly.
I slowly took a step back when I noticed that his eye color was bright green instead of the usual grey color.
"Who are you?" I asked and quickly switched into defense mode.
"I'm Mr Greene of course," he answered and took an intimidating step in my direction.
"Stay where you are!" I warned but he just scoffed and took another step.
And while I tried to stall, I tried to read his mind but couldn't and it made me frown in worry. I could read almost everybody's mind, depending on what they wanted to show me.
My eyes darted about as I calculated my moves but in a blink of an eye, he was right before me and I quickly took that to my advantage by touching his temples.
He gasped as his eyes rolled up and I quickly delved into his mind.
The moment I got in and stood face to face with him, I finally saw his true form and it made me stagger in shock.
"Interesting," he said while looking at me in awe.
"You're a fae," I blurted out right after he spoke.
He was dressed in a very foreign emerald green clothing and his ears were pointed while his eyes were slightly slanted and his nose perfectly pointed.
He had a beautiful root-like drawing on his skin which was bronze in color.
When I looked around I finally realized that everywhere was a combination of emerald green and bronze.
"How is this possible?" I breathlessly enquired as I brought my attention back to him.
I was the only rare one in Weenfield to have both Emerald green and Bronze cells.
"We're alike," he said, which I didn't want to accept.
As I continued to admire him I noticed his translucent wings which had a sparkle of bronze on it to make people see it. He had such an ethereal beauty that could captivate anyone.
As he took a step in my direction, I took a step back.
"You made a terrible mistake by entering my mind, Mariah Oswald."
