To Survive

Meliza's POV

When I realized it was already nighttime, I hurried to the bathroom, letting the warm water wash away the day's exhaustion.

I wasn't trying to impress Elijah but knew I had to look presentable. After all, tonight wasn't just another dinner; it was my first night in his home, and I needed to try to fit into my chosen life.

After stepping out of the shower, I wrapped my body in a soft towel and secured another around my damp hair. Steam lingered in the air, curling around the mirror as I wiped a hand across the glass. My reflection stared back at me, my eyes slightly swollen from exhaustion and the emotions of the day.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped into the bedroom and made my way toward the massive wardrobe.

The moment I opened it, my eyes widened in shock.
