Meliza's POV
I let Ruby and our friends rest from their trip, knowing they must be exhausted. But even with them here, a sense of isolation settled in my chest.
I stayed in my room, avoiding the rest of the house, especially them.
Andrew and Jessa.
I had wanted to talk to my sister alone, but Andrew was always there, hovering, lurking, as if he knew I wanted to be alone with her. It used to be so easy to talk to and confide in her, but now everything was different.
She was different.
And Andrew—he was the reason I avoided the living room the most.
At first, I dismissed his suggestion that I marry him instead of his father as a twisted joke, something he had thrown at me just to provoke a reaction. But as days passed, I saw something in his eyes that made my stomach tighten with fear.
A hunger.
A dark, possessive glint that sent shivers down my spine whenever our eyes met. He was the son of my future husband. He should stop.
