Damon's words cut through to the heart of the issue. The simple fact is that the human race was an untapped goldmine, which was now in the eye of the public. So, there was a race between all powers to tap into this wealth first and foremost.
The biggest issue they had considered at first was competing against each other for the right to harvest this precious resource of a species, but now Damon was abruptly telling them that they forgot to factor in their actual biggest competitor: the human race themselves!
This new species wanted to monopolize their right to exploit themselves and wanted everyone else in the universe to be their suckers!
And on what grounds?
Feena wanted to know this much as well, questioning Damon immediately. "You wish not to trade your species' public goods and now wish to solely dictate the terms of your private sector? May I ask what right you think you have to perform this, Mr. Damon Arnan?"
"A good question, Lady Feena. Apart from our public sector having a high valuation, the truth is that we would benefit more if we exploited those resources ourselves. You should know, just based on our special location, our innate ability, and various other factors, it is not impossible for humanity to open a corporation at the end of the grace period that can grow to untold heights."
Damon lifted his hand and brought up a display before the various CEOs. "But that is all speculation, so let us deal with the hard facts. Firstly, the human race possesses an SSS rating for Mentality, scored from the cumulative scan of our species."
"I'm sure you all know what this means," Damon hinted with a smile.
Of course, they did, especially Carzan, whose Jorge race possessed S-ranked Mentality. Mentality was the complete value of a being's or species' thinking, reasoning, and intellectual capacity, which also had a minor effect on boosting mind-related abilities.
This meant that in matters concerning research, technology, calculation, and insight, such a person or species would have an absolutely terrific upper limit.
The Jorge race had high mentality and awakened the A Rank Telekinesis power, which meshed well together. Not only that, but they were one of the top ten contributors to research and technological growth in the IUAS, winning the 'Best Galactic Minds' Award at the tenth place for almost 50 years in a row.
The highest race in terms of Mentality stats before the humans were the Insect race, with their SS-ranked average. Coupled with their SSS-ranked Hivemind, this was why this race could stably sit at the 7th place in the species ranking.
But before the human race's SSS rank, this was all for naught!
Even though Sinokin did not feel particularly threatened by humans since they did not have the necessary hivemind to facilitate the quantum livestreaming that their race used to dominate this field of business, he and Carzan still felt extremely threatened because, given time, this race could become the forefront in technology, knowledge, and research!
"Then there's our Providence, ranked at EX. I don't even want to talk about this one," Damon continued, chuckling slightly.
The expressions of everyone in the room became grim, even Ambrose. Providence was a very, very special stat in the universe and came with a lot of benefits, and a lot of meaning as well.
Luck, what is luck? Unfortunately, there is no such thing as luck in the sense of a lady or a god that oversaw the field, but rather it was how much 'investment' the Universe Will put into a certain being or species.
The higher the Providence, the more attention this impartial entity paid to you and would exert more effort to ensure your happiness, success, and survival based on your overall value in this stat.
With an EX, to cut things short, it basically meant that if the Universe Will was to be imagined as a being with a pair of eyes, it permanently had its left eye focused on humanity while the other eye was shared between the rest of the universe.
Even this meeting right now, the Universe Will was more than likely directly watching it. This was the reason these powerhouses had not unleashed their auras or made direct threats upon Damon, with only Bertrand throwing a casual fuss here and there.
This was also exactly what Damon was banking on by establishing that all humans will enter Essence with their real bodies and subsequently, the Chaos Realm. If the species of the IUAS thought that humanity was a rich goldmine of endless value, then so too did the Universe Will.
And guess who was stronger?
"Finally, there is also the factor to consider, which is our powerful ability spread. This is likely what you all most value, the fact that a human being can absolutely awaken an A-grade and above ability with endless potential," Damon finished, gesturing to the part of the screen that showed the catalog of abilities from the first 100.
There was a deathly silence in the room after this.
Ambrose was slightly shaken, not expecting these powerhouses, whom he secretly feared and revered, to be left so speechless that they couldn't muster anything to refute. Before coming here, he had warned Damon that this battle would not be easy and his only advantage was his various protections by the law.
However, Ambrose was now realizing that his limited foresight meant that he missed two things: the immense value and upper limit of humanity, as well as the horrific deterrence that the attention of the Universe Will brought.
He couldn't help but glance at the smiling young man beside him and felt emotional. Did Damon know beforehand that all of this would occur? Or was he simply winging it and doing his best on the spot to ensure a stable outcome?
Na Tsui.
If Ambrose understood this term, he would feel even more apprehensive of this young man, for he would never exercise patience without strong backing as per his father's teachings.
"So what do you propose then?" Garton eventually pushed, still unwilling to give up.
"My proposal is quite simple. As all humans are a resource owned by the human race, no other species can purchase humans. You can only buy a license for a predetermined period to utilize any human resources you are interested in, but the final ownership of any human resource will be exclusively and perpetually held by the human race."
Damon raised a finger to stop the CEOs, who were about to explode in anger and indignation. "That is not all. Not only does the human race own the full authority and rights over all human resources, but it also acknowledges that human resources are limited. The universe is vast and wide, so aside from our duties to the Universe Will by exploring the Chaos Realm, there will be little time to do much else."
"There are only 7 billion humans, and even if every single one were to awaken, there would not be enough of us to satisfy the demand presented by all the factions in the universe. As such, those who get to exploit human resources have to be carefully selected in terms of value, allegiance, and reputation."
"This means that we fully reserve the right to assess who humans can contract with in any field of business, banning or sanctioning any force or species based on the factors mentioned above. Most importantly, for the species that are green-lit to work with us, an auction will be held on the first day of each year by the human calendar to compete for the right to engage in private business with humanity."
Damon nodded to the extremely cold-faced CEOs opposite him. "That is my proposal."
Godin, the Goblin CEO, pushed up his glasses and spoke in a shrill tone. "Dear Mr. Arnan, you cannot be serious, can you? Such terms are completely unworthy of transacting business and will have to be tempered if any agreement is going to be met!"
Damon shook his head. "There will be no negotiation. These are the terms of humanity, and they can only be signed or rejected. However, do note that rejection means that you, your company, and your species will be forever banned from ever interacting with humanity in private business, so please choose carefully."
The atmosphere became incomparably oppressive, and even Ambrose, at level 78, felt like he could suffocate. The way this human did business was even greedier and more atrocious than the goblin race, simply dropping rapacious demands and then stating that one should either take it or never come back again.
"Is this your final answer, Mr. Arnan?" Godin asked darkly.
"Yes, that is correct, Lord Godin," Damon responded calmly, trying to hide his growing trepidation due to his churning stomach from the oppressive power swirling in the room.
Godin was silent for a second or two before he smiled, rose to his feet, and bowed. "Then that is grand! The Trust and Trades Company will be happy to accept your terms!"
The faces of the other six major CEOs changed greatly, and Garton even rose to his feet and smashed the table, roaring with fury!
"YOU FILTHY GOBLIN, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"
