Fiona and I were in Ophelia's room when she dropped the bombshell: Lila was back in town.
I wasn't surprised, though I made sure to feign shock. My eyes widened, mouth slightly agape, playing the part of someone blindsided. Fiona, on the other hand, didn't need to pretend. Her face went pale, her lips trembling as she processed the news. I could practically hear the frantic thoughts racing through her mind.
To her, Lila's return signaled the end. The collapse of everything she'd built. Her reign was over—or so she thought.
To me, it was nothing more than a bump in the road. An obstacle easily removed with the right plan.
Sebastian still wanted Fiona to travel with them to New York. That was the plan, and it would happen. Not even Lila herself could walk in and change that. I wouldn't allow it.
"Oh my God, what should we do? Are you sure about this?" Fiona's voice cracked with worry.
