Lavitar Egg

Aoki hesitated as he stood before the peculiar cave. "Why is there a cave like this here? It seems ancient," he murmured.

The cave had clearly been excavated, but some areas were natural formations. It was obvious this was originally a natural cave that had been later expanded by someone—or something. The scratches on the walls had faded with time, and from Aoki's understanding, they were not the work of small rock-type Pokémon like Geodude or Onix.

"Slowpoke, can you sense if there are any Pokémon inside?" Aoki asked the Slowpoke beside him.

"Yah~" The Slowpoke's eyes glimmered faintly as it released subtle psychic waves into the surroundings. After a few moments, it shook its head, indicating there were no Pokémon in the cave.

Relieved, Aoki retrieved a flashlight from his Rocket belt and shone it into the cave. The beam of light revealed a passage that stretched into darkness. He hesitated briefly before stepping inside. Due to the narrow entrance, the Murkrow perched on the Slowpoke's back, using its psychic ability to stay balanced as they ventured further.

After several minutes of cautious progress, the cave began to widen. Aoki quickened his pace and soon found himself in a large open chamber. It was empty except for the jagged rocks scattered around.

"Strange, is this just an ordinary cave?" Aoki muttered.

"Yah~" Slowpoke suddenly tugged on Aoki's trousers, pointing to a spot on the far wall with a low cry.

Curious, Aoki approached the area Slowpoke indicated. There, protruding from the stone wall, was a stalactite as thick as a person. At its tip hung a single drop of milky-white, viscous liquid. The droplet appeared full and round, clinging stubbornly to the stalactite without falling.

A faint, refreshing scent wafted from the liquid, but it dissipated almost immediately, making it hard to detect. Aoki's eyes widened in recognition.

"This is... Earth Core Milk?" he exclaimed.

Earth Core Milk was a rare treasure in the Pokémon world, formed over centuries by natural processes. It was rich in energy and minerals, capable of enhancing a Pokémon's physical strength and defense. For humans, it could boost health, increase resistance to disease, and even prolong life. Such a resource was extremely rare, often fought over by powerful factions. A single drop could fetch an astronomical price.

"It takes months just to form one drop," Aoki murmured, awestruck. "No wonder it's so coveted."

Before Aoki could continue, Slowpoke's psychic power lifted a large stone from the ground nearby. Beneath it lay a shallow pool filled with Earth Core Milk, its surface shimmering with a faint, starlike glow. The sudden release of fragrance filled the air, making Aoki feel rejuvenated just by breathing it in.

"This much..." Aoki's voice trailed off in disbelief. Carefully, he retrieved several containers from his belt and began collecting the precious liquid, ensuring not a single drop was wasted. As he worked, something caught his eye within the pool—an object submerged in the milky liquid. When the pool was almost empty, the object's shape became clear.

It was a Pokémon egg.

Aoki stared in shock. "An egg... here? How long has it been hidden?"

He gently retrieved the egg, wiping away the residual liquid to reveal its smooth, pale shell. The chip embedded in Aoki's brain activated, scanning the egg and displaying its data.

Aoki's hand trembled slightly as he read the data. A Larvitar egg—the offspring of a pseudo-legendary Pokémon—hidden away in such a remote place. The genetic moves alone indicated its lineage came from immensely powerful parents.

He recalled the scratches at the cave entrance and along the walls. "Could the parents have left it here, protecting it with the Earth Core Milk?" Aoki wondered aloud.

However, one note on the scan caught his attention: "Unable to hatch"

"Why isn't it ready to hatch?" Aoki questioned, confused. The egg's vitality seemed strong, even overwhelming, and yet it felt incomplete in some way.

Slowpoke leaned forward, pressing its round, pink head gently against the egg. It closed its eyes, focusing its psychic energy. Aoki watched quietly, sensing that Slowpoke was trying to establish a connection. After a moment, Slowpoke gestured for Aoki and Murkrow to place their hands on it.

Trusting his companion, Aoki complied. As his hand rested on Slowpoke's back, a surge of warmth enveloped him. His vision blurred, and the surroundings faded.
