Chapter 784 - Who is more beautiful?

The sudden appearance of the water-filled battlefield placed Aoki at a significant disadvantage.

Gengar had mastered the move Thunderbolt, but Whiscash, being a Water- and Ground-type Pokémon, was completely immune to Electric-type attacks.

From his position above the water's surface, Gengar could feel its power, yet it was rendered useless against the submerged foe.

With no other options, Whiscash remained hidden beneath the water, forcing Gengar to rely solely on its Grass-type Hidden Power. Though this move was super effective, dealing quadruple damage due to Whiscash's dual typing, Gengar's lack of specialization in Grass-type moves meant the damage output was still limited.

Meanwhile, Whiscash utilized its aquatic advantage, striking unpredictably with Hydro Pump and other Water-type attacks. The obscured angle made it difficult for Gengar to anticipate the attacks, and whenever it hovered too low, Whiscash retaliated with Ground-type moves like Earthquake and Earth Power.

The combination of these two powerful attacks quickly wore down Gengar, whose frail defenses left it vulnerable.

Wallace's clever use of the mixed terrain had regained him some control over the battle.

Not wanting to waste an opportunity, Aoki commanded Gengar to use Destiny Bond just before it fainted. Since this move required no verbal communication, Whiscash was still affected despite being underwater.

As Gengar collapsed, Whiscash also succumbed to the shared fate, floating belly-up on the water's surface.

Both Trainers had now lost another Pokémon.

On paper, Aoki still held an advantage with three remaining Pokémon compared to Wallace's two. However, the reality was far less straightforward.

Aoki's Politoed was ill-suited for one-on-one battles, especially without the benefit of its Drizzle ability. Its current level also made it unfit for such a high-stakes match.

Wallace, on the other hand, still had two formidable Pokémon remaining: Walrein, an Ice- and Water-type, and his ace, Milotic.

Neither of these would be easy for Politoed to handle.

Sending it out now would be akin to forfeiting the match.

Thus, in practical terms, Aoki only had two viable Pokémon left—his Florges and Slowking.

The battle remained at a 60-40 advantage in Aoki's favor, but the next decision would determine the outcome.

The Pokémon they chose to send out next would be critical.

Florges, a Fairy-type, could use its move Camouflage to shift into a Grass-type, giving it an advantage against Milotic's Water typing.

But if it faced Walrein instead, the dynamic would shift.

A Grass-type Florges would be strong against Walrein's Water type, but weak to its Ice attacks.

Without Camouflage, Florges's offensive capabilities would plummet, and Walrein's higher level would likely secure Mikri the win.

Both Trainers hesitated, knowing this was a high-stakes guessing game.

Almost simultaneously, they released their next Pokémon.

Florges!

Milotic!

The crowd erupted in cheers—these two were among the most elegant Pokémon in the entire Sinnoh League.

Aoki had guessed correctly, but victory was far from guaranteed.

Unlike Cynthia's Milotic, Mikri's lacked many Dragon-type moves.

Pokémon: Milotic (Light Blue)

Gender: Male

Level: 56

Type: Water

Ability: Marvel Scale

Held Item: None

Egg Moves: Mist, Brine, Iron Tail, Dragon Pulse

Basic Moves: Water Pulse, Wrap, Water Gun, Aqua Ring, Attract, Disarming Voice, Twister, Recover, Captivate, Dragon Tail, Coil, Hydro Pump, Rain Dance

Learnt Moves: Ice Beam, Bind, Mirror Coat

TM Moves: Icy Wind, Hidden Power (Electric), Blizzard, Hyper Beam, Rain Dance, Safeguard, Scald, Dragon Tail, Surf

A Light Blue aptitude Milotic, truly Wallace's ace. At Level 56, it stood among the strongest Pokémon in the tournament.

Florges, at only Level 51, faced a steep challenge.

Wallace frowned. Though the mixed terrain had helped, his Pokémon selection had backfired, putting him back on the defensive.

He needed a win.

The graceful Milotic and radiant Florges captivated the audience—two of the most beautiful Pokémon in Sinnoh.

Under Aoki's command, Florges' petals shimmered green as it activated Protean, shifting into a Grass-type.

"Milotic, use Ice Beam, then close in and strike with Iron Tail!" Wallace ordered, opting for an aggressive approach.

Milotic slithered forward with surprising speed, its serpentine body gliding effortlessly across the grass.

A beam of freezing energy shot from its forehead, aimed directly at Florges.

Florges, not built for speed, couldn't evade easily. Instead, it cast Grassy Terrain beneath itself, bracing for the attack.

The Ice Beam struck, chilling its petals, but Florges retaliated by forming a glowing Energy Ball between its hands and hurling it at Milotic.

Milotic halted abruptly, its tail gleaming with metallic energy as it swung down, shattering the Energy Ball mid-air.

With an ethereal cry, it summoned an Icy Wind, pelting Florges with frost.

Florges responded by summoning Magical Leaf, sending razor-edged foliage slicing toward Milotic.

The exchange left both Pokémon wounded—Florges slowed by frost, Milotic bruised by super-effective Grass damage.

Undeterred, Milotic surged forward, its tail now sheathed in both water and steel—a combined Aqua Tail and Iron Tail!

Florges conjured a floral shield, blocking the Aqua Tail, but the Iron Tail smashed through, sending it skidding out of the Grassy Terrain.

Milotic pressed the assault, lunging toward the fallen Florges for a finishing blow.
