As the hot droplets of water met my body, I let out a sigh.
Everything was a mess.
Why the fuck did I have to come back?
There were so many questions, but no answers.
I had to find out what my mission was, complete it, and leave. Once the mission was over, everything would go back to normal. Everyone would forget about my death. No more mission, no more Jungkook, no more tears.
After taking a long, hot shower, I made my decision—I would complete the mission, whatever it was. Jungkook would be the person who helped me. Nothing more, nothing less.
I dried my hair and stepped out of the bathroom. The apartment was silent except for the faint ticking of a clock somewhere in the background. I walked into the living room, where Jungkook was sitting on the couch, his elbows resting on his knees, staring at his phone.
The moment he noticed my presence, he stood up.
"Tae… are you okay?" he asked, his voice careful, hesitant.
I forced a small smile, though it didn't quite reach my eyes. "I'm fine."
I sat down on the sofa, folding my arms over my chest. "I was thinking about my mission."
Jungkook raised a brow, looking slightly surprised. "Oh… I see."
"Then where should we start?" I asked.
He was silent for a few seconds, his fingers tapping against his knee as he thought. "I think we should figure out why you were given this mission in the first place. Is there anything unresolved? An unfinished wish or something like that?"
I stilled.
An unfinished wish.
How could I tell him that there were so many wishes left unfulfilled? That there were so many things I had wanted—things that would never come true now?
I swallowed, forcing the lump in my throat down. "No," I said, my voice steady. "Nothing important."
Jungkook didn't look convinced, but he didn't push. Instead, he nodded, leaning back against the couch.
"Alright," he said. "Then we find out what your mission is from scratch."
I exhaled slowly. "Yeah. From scratch."
But deep down, I already knew—this mission wouldn't be as simple as I wanted it to be.
Short chap.
