I want to leave

Silas's POV

"I went to your room, but I couldn't find you. Can I sleep with you tonight? I don't want to sleep alone, but Damon bro punished me by making me sleep alone," Orian said, leaning into the guy's chest and nuzzling his head against it.

I stood there watching everything unfold, unable to tear my eyes away.

That guy should feel ashamed of himself for trying to get close to me when his mate, Orian, is so beautiful and adorable.

Guilt and shame began to creep into me because I knew all too well how it felt to see your mate with someone else.

It wasn't a pain anyone deserved, and yet here I was, standing amidst this.

"By the way, Kael, why were you in this omega's room? Were you two... playing?" Orian asked, his curious eyes locking onto mine. The question caught me completely off guard.

Playing? What kind of question was that? Did we look like children who would play games?

And judging by the way he had walked in earlier and seen us standing so close, his question held more weight than it seemed.

"No, Orian. I was just out for a walk at night, but then I heard a commotion, so I came to check. And when I got here..." Kael paused mid-sentence, turning to look at me, a mocking smirk playing on his lips.

"There was only one person making enough noise to match a hundred," he said with a chuckle, "so I was just... having a conversation with him."

I stood there, watching them talk about me like I wasn't even there, like I was some passing topic of amusement for their entertainment.

As I kept my gaze fixed on the two of them, my eyes accidentally met Kael's.

In an instant, his expression shifted, morphing into one of disgust, as if merely looking at me was unbearable for him.

"What are you staring at?" he barked, his tone sharp and filled with venom. His demeanor had completely changed the moment Orian arrived.

I could see it clearly—he was irritated by my mere presence now, as though my very existence was offensive to him.

And yet, not long ago, this same man had held me in his arms, locking eyes with me as if there was some connection.

For a fleeting moment, I had even thought I could sense his pheromones, a faint hope stirring within me that he might be my fated mate.

But now... seeing his expression and the disdain radiating from him, I knew I was wrong. If someone like him were truly my fated mate, I wouldn't hesitate to reject him.

I didn't care what the consequences would be—no bond was worth this kind of humiliation.

I kept my gaze fixed on him.

"Someone like you? Watching you isn't my hobby. I'd rather gouge my own eyes out than waste them on you," I said, raising one eyebrow as I finished, trying to mock him even further.

Kael's face twitched for a moment, his jaw tightening as if my words had struck a nerve.

But instead of lashing out, he just let out a dry chuckle, the sound filled with condescension.

"Keep running that mouth of yours," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "It's the only thing you're good at, isn't it?"

The tension between us was thick, but I refused to back down, my glare locked on him like a challenge.

If he thought he could intimidate me, he was in for a rude awakening.

"And what exactly are you good at? Just flirting—with anyone and everyone? Honestly, alphas like you disgust me, thinking you can lay your hands on anyone just because you're an alpha," I said, my voice sharp and cutting.

My words clearly hit a nerve. His expression betrayed the sting he was trying to mask.

"I can't even stand being here for another second," I added, making a point to glance at him with mock disgust before dramatically gagging, as though the very sight of him made me nauseous. I turned on my heel and headed for the door.

I could feel his anger radiating behind me, his body stiff with frustration. But what could he do? With Orian standing right next to him, he wouldn't dare act out.

As soon as I stepped out of the room, I noticed that just a few steps ahead was a garden. It stretched out in front of my room, serene and quiet under the faint moonlight.

There were two or three more rooms visible nearby, their doors securely locked.

And as I started moving forward, the king of the pack appeared there with his Luna by his side.

The moment the lady stood in front of me, I couldn't help but notice the striking resemblance she shared with that boy—Kael, was it? Yes, Kael.

Her hair was the same brilliant white as his, gleaming like moonlight.

"Where are you going?" The lady had gripped both my shoulders tightly, and she seemed frantic, as if she didn't want to let me leave this place.

"I'm leaving this place now. I can't stay any longer," I said, pushing her hand off my shoulder after speaking.

"How can you say that? You have to stay here," the lady's voice rose, as if she was threatening me.

"Am I supposed to stay here just because you want me to? You saved me, but that's a different matter, and this is something else," I said, feeling angry that everyone seemed to want to control my life according to their own will.

"Where will you go at night? Stay for the night... what if something bad happens to you?" The king, who was standing beside the lady, said.

Hearing his voice, I turned my gaze toward him.

"If something bad happens, it will happen to me, not you. What does it have to do with you?" I said to the king.

I turned again to leave, but suddenly I heard

the king shouting from behind. When I looked back, I saw that the lady had fainted.
