Chapter 11: Kneeling In Front Of Her

Chantelle walked over to Kate, stepping carefully over Allen's hand, blood dripping from her heels.

Kate, terrified, kept backing away from her.

The lift doors opened, and a group of people stepped out.

Seeing them, Kate ran toward them like they'd just saved her. "Mr. Walter! This woman is trying to kill me! Please, chase her away!"

Mr. Walter was a chubby man, and Kate knew he was one of her biggest fans.

When he heard Kate scream, he quickly rushed over and pulled her into his arms.

"What's going on? Who dares cause trouble in my territory?"

After calming Kate down, he turned to Chantelle. "Who do you think you are? How dare you cause a scene at the philanthropy committee? Ms. Kate is our honored guest, Easthan's charitable princess. And you tried to hurt her? Are you asking for trouble? Kneel and apologize to her!"

But when Steve saw Chantelle's face, he froze.

'She's even more beautiful than Kate', he thought, feeling a rush of excitement. 'If I can make her kneel and save Kate at the same time, that would be perfect.'

Kate didn't want to be held by Steve, but she thought it was worth it to teach Chantelle a lesson.

Steve was an important figure in the philanthropy committee, and messing with him would cause trouble for Chantelle.

It would make her regret trying to compete with Kate for the title.

Chantelle took off her sunglasses and glanced at the man's name tag.

Then, she smiled.

"Steve Walter, the director of the Philanthropy Committee? You're quite a big deal around here."

Steve was used to being in charge and bossing people around in the organization. It was only natural for him to look down on Chantelle.

"Since you know who I am, why aren't you apologizing?" Steve demanded. "Kneel and apologize to Ms. Kate, and I'll let you go. You better know what's good for you."

"Kneel and apologize?" Kate repeated, shocked.

"Yes!" Steve shouted. "Kneel and apologize. If not, you won't be leaving here."

He expected Chantelle to beg, but to Chantelle, he was just a nobody.

"Dream on!" Chantelle shot back. "I don't think Ms. Kate deserves my apology!"

Steve was getting agitated. He hadn't expected Chantelle to react this way. "Ms. Kate isn't just Easthan's charitable princess. She's also Mr. Daniel's fiancée from the Wilson family. It's an honor to be asked to kneel to her!"

"Oh? Should I thank Mr. Walter instead?" Chantelle replied. "Mr. Walter, I hope you won't regret this."

"Me? Regret it?" Steve scoffed. "You're the one who should regret it... Ah!"

Before Steve could finish, a man rushed out of the lift and slapped him hard.

Steve's face was bruised, and two of his teeth flew out.

'What just happened?' Steve thought, stunned.

Kate finally broke free from Steve's grip. It made her feel sick. She never would have asked him for help if it hadn't been an emergency.

"Who did this? Who's brave enough to hit me?" Steve shouted, his hand on his bruised face.

When he looked up, he saw Calvin.

"Mr. Jones?"

What's he doing here?

Mr. Jones was an important person sent by the headquarters a few days ago. He had come to handle everything for the charity banquet.

Calvin was the one who had taken Kate's name off the list at the chairman's request.

Steve's face turned pale. "Mr. Jones, what are you doing here today? Why did you hit me for no reason?"

Calvin responded, "This is the Global Philanthropy Committee. Shouldn't you be punished for causing a scene with the candidate in public?"

Kate had never seen Calvin before, but something about him seemed familiar.

Then, it hit her. This man was with the mysterious woman at the cemetery.

Kate stepped back, sensing that something bad was about to happen.

But Steve didn't notice it and pointed at Chantelle, saying, "Mr. Jones, this woman is trying to hurt our charity princess, Ms. Kate. I was just protecting her. It's all her fault!"

Calvin looked at Chantelle, then turned back to Steve. He said firmly, "Steve, how dare you disrespect the chairman? Are you digging your own grave?"

Everyone around them was stunned when Steve called Chantelle the chairman.

"C-Chairman? Mr. Jones, are you serious? This woman is the chairman?" Steve stammered.

Calvin stared at him and said, "Mr. Walter, do you think I have time to joke around with you?"

Then, he turned to Chantelle, speaking with respect, "Chairman, what do you plan to do with them?"

Steve collapsed when he heard that. He knew it was over for him.

Kate was stunned. She pinched her arm and felt the sharp pain. It wasn't a dream.

She had never imagined that this woman would be the chairman of the Global Philanthropy Committee, the same person she had paid $500,000 to meet.

She had just offended the woman who had shown respect to Wesley at the cemetery.

Chantelle grinned when she saw Kate's pale face. "Since both of them have a problem with me, let's invite them to the meeting room."

She turned and walked away, leaving the air cold and tense.

Kate had never felt so humiliated. Just a few minutes ago, she was arguing with this woman, and the next moment, she had to bow down to her.

She would never accept the humiliation if it weren't for her valuable title and reputation.

She was the most respected woman in Easthan, her territory!

She couldn't let fear control her.

Inside the meeting room, Chantelle sat in the chairman's seat, took off her sunglasses, and ran her fingers through her hair. Her movements caught the attention of a few people in the room.

Steve, no longer concerned about Kate, dropped to his knees in front of Chantelle, not daring to look at her. "Chairman, I didn't know who I was speaking to. Please forgive me and be the bigger person."

Everyone involved in charity knew the chairman of the Global Philanthropy Committee was a mysterious figure.

A low-ranking director like Steve would never have had the chance to meet her.

There were rumors that the chairman had immense wealth and many influential connections, with wealthy families from all over the world supporting her.

That was the only way she could control such a large charity organization.

But Steve never imagined the chairman would be such a beautiful woman.

Chantelle looked at him and asked, "Mr. Walter, what are you doing? Didn't you just ask me to kneel and apologize to Ms. Kate? Why are you kneeling before I do?"
