"Wait, a Quest?!" He was surprised. Does this mean he has to complete certain missions to gain EXP and boost his stats? This is so exciting! He imagined various scenarios, different possible missions. A slight smile formed on his lips, full of curiosity and anticipation.
Lucian reached out his finger, touching the "Quest" icon on the transparent status board. Two options appeared: Main Quest and Daily Quest. He was curious about the Main Quest, and hesitantly tapped it.
[Your EXP is not enough, you can collect EXP in daily quests]
"Once a capitalist, always a capitalist," Lucian muttered, his tone a bit bitter, raising his eyebrows in slight annoyance. He sighed.
[Notice: We hear you.]
Lucian snorted, feeling a bit underestimated by the system. Without a second thought, he tapped on the Daily Quest option. A list of quests appeared, offering various mission choices with different difficulty levels and rewards.
"Oh, so there are this many daily quests," Lucian muttered, his eyes scanning through the available mission list. He picked one that looked relatively easy and suited his current situation. His fingers touched the quest title: Survival Routine. "This quest seems perfect for a first quest," he said, before confirming his choice.

"Ooh? It seems like luck is on my side now, the penalty isn't as heavy as I thought," Lucian muttered, judging the details of the rewards and penalties from the Survival Routine quest. A faint smile crossed his lips. Only a 10% reduction in HP and MP if it fails? It is still tolerable. "Healthy food really has to be written like that? Huh, I also understand, you know," he continued, a slightly dismissive tone sounding in his voice. This system is too patronizing, he thought. Even so, he admitted that the clue was quite helpful. Then, his eyes are fixed on the third target: observing the environment in search of information.
"Even without the system's help, I was planning to gather information," he said, recalling his previous plans. "The information about Lucian in the game and the forums I read before is just too little, what's out there is just rumors and speculation. There are no details that can really be relied on," he said, shaking his head. "It seems like going to the library would be better for now. Maybe there are some books or old documents that could give me more information." He concluded, deciding on the next step in his quest. He already had a rough idea of how he would complete this quest. Now, he just needed to execute it.
Lucian left the park and decided to head to the library as planned. "If he remembers right, it should be around here..." Lucian mumbled, his fingers tracing the long corridor walls. A faint memory of the family library popped into his mind. He recalled small details like the lion carving on one of the pillars near the library entrance. He found it; the lion carving was still there, indicating he was on the right track. With steady steps, he approached the large carved door leading to the library, ready to dig into the hidden information behind the stacks of old books and documents.
Lucian grabbed the door handle of the ancient library, the carved wood feeling cold under his touch. The smell of old books and dust filled his senses, giving rise to a wave of vague memories that were difficult to define. However, before he could open the door completely, a heavy voice stopped him.
A brown-haired man stood tall before him, he was the Librarian in charge of the Hale family library. His face was flat, his sharp eyes observing Lucian with a wary expression. In his hand, he held a ledger, apparently a notebook or register.
"Even though you are Young lord Lucian," the man said, his voice deep and authoritative, showing a measured but firm respect, "did you get permission from the Great Master to enter the library?" His tone of voice did not show fear or contempt, but rather rigid and uncompromising enforcement of rules. He looked like a guard who had been on duty for many years, fully understanding the rules and their consequences.
Lucian frowned. He didn't expect to find a guard here. It has been calculated that the library will be quiet and easy to enter. "Hey you," said Lucian, his voice cold and slightly sharp, showing his dislike for this unexpected obstacle. "What did you call me just now?" He emphasized the word 'you', indicating his displeasure with the formal attitude used by the guard.
The guy looked a bit shocked for a moment when Lucian's tone suddenly changed. He stepped back a little but kept his sharp gaze. "What... are you starting to lose your mind, Young lord?" he asked, his voice slightly trembling, showing he was a bit scared of Lucian. "You can't enter the library without the Big Master's permission. That's a long-standing rule in this house." He emphasized his last words, showing how important that rule was to him.
"You think I'm gonna follow that?" Lucian said, his eyes turning sharp, glinting with a strange cold light. A mysterious aura radiated from him, creating an invisible yet palpable pressure. The guard froze in place, his body tense. A split second later, something strange happened. The guard's face turned to confusion, his eyes losing focus.
"...Sorry, Young Lord," the guard mumbled, his voice sounding a bit dazed. "You... you can go in now." He stepped aside, making way for Lucian to enter the library.
Lucian watched the guard with an unreadable expression. "Why is he suddenly so confused?" he murmured, a bit surprised by the unexpected reaction. He didn't use any magic or powers, yet somehow he managed to make the guard comply. "Oh well, the important thing is I can get in," he said, then stepped into the dark and mysterious library. The smell of old books and dust greeted him, reminding him of his purpose here: to seek information.
Old books and dust filled Lucian's nose as he stepped through the library's doorway. The bookshelves towered high, stretching from the floor to the ceiling, packed with thick volumes that looked ancient and mysterious. Dim light from the small, high windows made the room feel quiet and solemn. Dust floated with every step he took, creating a heavy, ancient aura.
Lucian walked down the narrow hallway between the bookshelves. He reached out his hand, tracing the spines of the old books. The titles, most of which had faded, seemed to be written in an ancient language that was foreign to him. He was looking for something specific, something that could help him uncover the mystery of his past. But he wasn't sure what exactly he was supposed to be searching for.
He stopped in front of a shelf that looked older than the others. The wood appeared darker and more worn, showing its age of centuries. He took a deep breath and started checking the books on that shelf one by one. His fingers brushed against the rough, dusty covers, reading the titles that were barely visible. Occasionally, he found a book with interesting illustrations or unique handwriting. But everything seemed irrelevant to what he was looking for.
Lucian stopped at the end of the shelf. Among the old and dusty books, something different caught his attention. It wasn't a book, but an old document neatly folded, tied with a faded silk ribbon. A burning curiosity pushed him to take the document. Carefully, he untied the fragile silk ribbon. The document was made of parchment paper that had yellowed with age, its texture felt fragile under his touch.
He slowly opened the folds of the document, afraid of tearing it. The letters written on it looked ancient and elegant, adorned with intricate calligraphy. He started reading it, his eyes widening as he understood its content. "This is... the archive of the Hale family's achievements," he murmured, his voice barely audible. The document was not just a family tree, but a detailed record of the Hale family's accomplishments, achievements, and history over the years.
