Ruins and Fortress - 02

Lucian stepped out of the casino, leaving the noisy atmosphere and scent of liquor behind.  Outside, he looked up at the twilight sky, beginning to glow golden. The sun still hung on the western horizon, bathing the city in a soft orange light.  Building shadows stretched long on the cobblestone streets, and the evening air carried a cool breeze that rustled distant leaves.

He took a deep breath, savoring the moment before heading towards the stables.

As he approached, his footsteps echoed softly on the quietening street.  Several tethered horses shifted their ears, sensitive to the approaching human.

A middle-aged stablehand turned at Lucian's arrival. "You're back, sir?" he asked politely, though a hint of caution laced his tone.

"Indeed," Lucian replied, glancing at his horse's stall. "One of my two plans is complete." He moved closer, gently patting his horse's neck, feeling the animal's warmth. "Thank you for looking after him."
