Raikishi

For a beast lord of Raikishi's level, hiding his presence was not difficult. For the past three years, she has been closely watching Anon and her descendant Susu. She liked to keep an eye on their relationship. Her descendant, like herself, was once very active.

Looking at Susu, she sadly thought of her other descendants who were no longer in this world. Due to their proximity to lightning, they were too active and could not sit in one place, constantly looking for new adventures. All of them, even before they had time to grow up, got into dangerous situations and could not survive to this day. It was a kind of curse that haunted their kind of foxes.

Therefore, when she found out about the request of another beast lord, who was looking for someone willing to give her descendants to humans so that they could form a beast tamer contract with them or become Contractors when they awoke, she decided to send her last surviving descendant.

She has never made contracts with other beings. She gained all her strength through her work, as did all her descendants, who, following her example, tried to achieve everything on their own. However, unfortunately, not all of their attempts were successful. That's why she decided to give her last fox cub to people.

After playing a little game in front of the door, a couple consisting of a man and a fox entered the house. While Anon was making himself a drink, he received a call on his smartphone. The caller, of course, was her mother.

"Yes, Mom!" replied Anon.

"Anon, I contacted my grandmother and informed her of your decision. But... I do not know what to do next. Grandma and ancestor Gelidus couldn't find ancestor Raikishi. She went somewhere a few years ago and still hasn't returned. You know what kind of character Susu has. Susu's ancestor, like her, can't sit in one place for long, and she has a habit of traveling around the beast continent. Everyone was so used to it that they didn't notice her disappearance," Sarah explained.

"..." Anon was stunned. He instinctively looked at Susu, who was playing with a ball at that time, and imagined that an ancestor of Susu might be in her place. Although Anon had never seen her ancestor and did not know what she looked like, he could imagine that she looked like Susu, but more elegant.

"Anon? Can you hear me?" Sarah's voice pulled Anon out of his thoughts.

"Yes, I hear. So I have to wait for her to come back?"

"Phew... it looks like this is the only way out. She doesn't have any other descendants besides Susu, and Susu hasn't awakened yet, has she? If that's the case, then it won't be easy to find her. Only an awakened descendant has a way to contact his ancestor, wherever she is, through a mental connection. Either we wait for her to appear on her own, or Susu will have to awaken to contact her ancestor," Sarah suggested.

"Okay, I get it. Thank you for taking the time to share this information with me," Anon thanked Sarah for providing the information.

"I'll let you know if I find out anything. Take care of yourself," Sarah said, even under the influence of the curse, but still did not forget to say these words.

After the conversation, Anon fell into thought. If the ancestor of Susu Raikishi does not appear, then he will not become a Contractor. Would he have to ask Susu to awaken? It won't take much effort or time for her to do it. Susu herself was holding back her progress, waiting for Anon's decision.

Noticing that Anon had finished talking, Susu ran up to him and looked at him. She noticed that he was deep in thought.

"Hey, Susu! Do you think you can awaken?" asked Anon, noticing Susu next to him.

In response, she only tilted her head to the side, as if wondering: "Why?"

"Well, how should I put it… I've been thinking a lot lately and have come to the decision to sign a contract with you and become a Contractor," Anon announced, revealing his intentions regarding her. Susu stared at him without taking her eyes off him, but it was noticeable how her eyes lit up with anticipation.

Anon briefly recounted his mother's words that they could not contact her ancestor due to the lack of other descendants. He said they would either have to wait for her to return, or Susu would have to wake up to establish a connection.

Upon hearing this, Susu quickly ran outside and started looking for something or someone, as if overcome with excitement. Anon was surprised and couldn't figure out what was going on.

However, Susu, upon hearing Anon's words, felt joy and impatience. But when she found out about her ancestor's disappearance, she had an epiphany. She connected all the events and realized that the strange feeling of something familiar around her was not accidental.

She first felt this presence three years ago. Then, to understand what it was, she searched the entire surrounding area of their house, but could not determine what it was. Over time, she got used to this feeling and stopped paying attention to it.

However, now that she found out that her ancestor had been in an unknown place for several years, it dawned on her. She realized that this presence most likely belonged to her ancestor, who had been by her side and watching over her all this time.

Susu was so excited that she didn't notice anything around her. All she wanted to do was find her ancestor and ask him to perform a ritual to form a contract with Anon. She was running down the street, making whining noises, which caused a slight commotion among passersby.

But her mood soon soured when she couldn't find her ancestor. It was only then that she noticed that many people living in the area had come out of their homes and were watching her actions.

Slightly embarrassed, she decided to return home. Almost all the neighbors knew her and were not surprised by her appearance. They were only surprised by what she had done on the street. However, since the curse was affecting her as well, the neighbors were quickly distracted, and the crowd quickly dispersed.

As Susu approached the door of the house, she felt the familiar presence again. But this time it came from inside. Surprised, she quickly entered the house and, wide-eyed, froze in place.

Anon appeared in front of her, stroking a small fox with eight fluffy tails, whose fur was a mixture of white and purple, with a nervous and slightly strained smile. The eight-tailed fox happily settled on Anon's lap, enjoying his caresses.

Susu quickly came to her senses and recognized her ancestor. Seeing her taking Anon's strokes with such pleasure, her eyes narrowed dangerously. Susu had grown up a long time ago, and her size did not allow her to sit comfortably on his lap and enjoy his caresses.

Anon also noticed the change in Susu's mood and couldn't help but laugh when he saw her possessive feelings. Even though he knew it wasn't a good thing, he couldn't stop.

Anon tore his gaze away from the jealous Susu and turned it to the fox, who was lying on his lap. He recognized her immediately. There was awe and slight fear in his eyes. After all, it was the ancestor of Susu.

Most of all, he was amazed and a little scared by the number of fox tails — there were eight of them. He knew from his mother's stories that the ancestor of Susu, like the ancestor of his mother's and sister's foxes, was a seventh-rank beast lord. But he couldn't even imagine that the ancestor of Susu was a beast lord of the eighth rank.
