Chapter 29 Berserk

After hearing Rima's words , Calista wondered , why was the great mighty Alexander conflicted? Didn't he mean to kill her? Or does he want to toy with her?

Her thoughts were disrupted when her eyes caught some heads peeking at her, from the opened door. Her stare made Rima look behind her, " don't you have work to do? Her stern voice pierced through the silence.

The servants who came to see the only survivor, who had not become dinner to king Alexander, they too, wanted to see what was special about her? Why did King Alexander spare her?

They quickly ran away like headless chickens when they heard Rima's voice.

" Do you know why he spared my life?" Calista asked, her voice filled with curiosity.

Rima sighed " I don't know Calista " she pinched the bridge her nose " he looked like he was fighting a big battle, his eyes were pitch black".

Calista heart unknowingly skipped a beat, " he did that for me? Why? She thought to herself.

" Do you know where he is now?" She bit her tongue, she did not know why she asked that question.

Rima's eyes grew distant " you don't want to know" her voice suddenly turned cold. She stood up, about to take her leave.

" But I…."

" Do me a favour " Rima turned to her. Her eyes filled with pain, her heart felt like it was being squeezed.

" Stay away from him" Rima didn't wait for Calista's response before she slammed the door behind her.

Calista buried her head between her palms, she didn't know what was going on, or why all these were happening, but she didn't want to go with the flow, she wanted to make the rules herself, a windbreaker.

Somewhere in the Guldoria realm

 In a dim lit room, a silhouette of a man could be seen, shackled to the wall. The chains were as large as those, used to restrict a full grown dragon.

A guttural growl echoed in the room. Ancient carvings were made on the wall, and they shone gold, forming a suppressive barrier on the chains.

No matter how the man struggled to free himself, it was all a futile attempt.

" Alex, Can you hear me?"

But he only growled back, his fangs elongated, his eyes pitch black. Alexander tried to conjure his hell fire flame, but the ancient carvings were suppressing all his powers.

Ethan paced around him, he pinched his nose, his eyes closed. " It has been a long time since he had lost control, why now?" Ethan felt his head getting heavier.

" he had only gone berserk when he killed his father and….." his eyes squinted as he could not remember what the other reason was.

He sat in front of Alexander. Ethan knew Alexander could not hurt him because of the ancient spell.

" Could it be her blood?" he muttered under his breath before standing up, he took one last look at his friend before walking out of the cave-like room.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Calista looked at her cage like room, she could not see nature as she was underneath the castle. She preferred it this way, she didn't want to see those eerie creatures.
Tonight will be her first night of observing the place, she has to make a map, get useful information, and get out of this hellhole.
She covered herself with a black cover, only a small part of her face was visible, her hand reached out to the door. She turned it open, her eyes widened, as her heart slammed against the wall of her chest.
"Uh oh"
Ethan's eyes stared down at her maliciously " Going somewhere?" His voice, devoid of any emotion.
He gripped her hand, pulling her along. No matter how hard Calista tried to break free from his grip, it felt like she was clamped by an iron lock.
Ethan suddenly stopped, his eyes turned gold " stop fighting back, before I turn you into a roasted chicken" his beast said, every word laced with malice.
Calista's palm turned cold and wet, the hair at the back of her neck stood, her breath hitched, as he was only a few inches away from her.
Her knees felt weak, " don't fall please" she prayed, but she fell to her knees the next second, a sob escaped her throat.
" Stand up now!" a growl escaped his throat.
Calista felt cold sweat trickle down her face, " I ... .I can't " her eyes shut closed.
His aura was too strong for her to handle.
Ethan took a deep breath, pushing his beast back into his body " why" his voice became a little softer.
" my legs won't move" her lips wobbled.
Ethan pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to calm down, but he failed miserably as he pulled at his hair, followed by his tantrum before finally letting out a frustrated yell.
Ethan took a deep breath , regaining his composure, " I will carry you then" he didn't give Calista a chance to protest before lifting her like a sack of grain.
Calista made a quiet sound of helplessness, " where is he taking her to? Is he going to finish what King Alexander started?" She thought " is this it?" A tear rolled down her cheek.
Her eyes burned with a new found conviction. She wanted to take fate into her own hands, no more being pushed around.
" where….. Are you taking me to?" She managed to ask, even though her voice sounded like a squirk.
Ethan rolled his eyes inwardly at her question.
" Are you taking me to king Alexander?" This time her voice sounded better.
Ethan ignored her again.
Behind Ethan's composure was an erupting volcano inside, he was worried that, if Alexander could not gain his consciousness soon, he might really go berserk, which would be more difficult and dangerous to get him back to his senses again.
He did not know why he was bringing Calista along to meet Alexander, but he knew she was the cause of the problem, maybe the solution lies with her.
