Tired. Anxious

The jet touched down on a secluded private airstrip in Santorini just as dawn broke over the Aegean Sea. The sky was a blend of pink and gold, casting a serene glow over the island. But despite the breathtaking view, tension hung in the air.

Victor led the way as they exited the plane, his eyes scanning the perimeter for any signs of trouble. Langston followed closely, his hand resting on his gun. Mia clutched Alexander's arm, her other hand protectively cradling her belly.

The villa was nestled on a cliffside, overlooking the crystal-clear waters. It was luxurious yet isolated—exactly what they needed. As they stepped inside, the scent of salt and fresh linen filled the air.

"This will do," Alexander said, inspecting the security features. "How secure is this place?"

Victor tapped his tablet. "State-of-the-art surveillance. No one gets in or out without us knowing."

Mia exhaled, trying to shake the anxiety gnawing at her. "So what now?"

Langston leaned against the doorway. "Now? We wait. We regroup. And we figure out who betrayed us."

The words sent a chill down her spine.

Alexander turned to Victor. "I want you to double-check our communication channels. If there's a leak, we need to shut it down immediately."

Victor nodded and walked off, already dialing into his system.

Mia sat on the edge of the plush sofa, her fingers absentmindedly tracing the fabric. Alexander kneeled in front of her, his eyes searching hers. "How are you feeling?"

She hesitated. "Tired. Anxious." She forced a small smile. "And hungry."

He chuckled. "I'll get you something."

As he stood, Mia grabbed his hand. "Alexander… do you really think someone close to us betrayed us?"

His jaw clenched. "I don't want to believe it. But the way they found us… it doesn't add up."

Mia swallowed hard. "Then we're not safe here either."

Alexander stroked her cheek. "We'll be safe. I promise."

But as he spoke the words, the uneasy feeling in Mia's chest only grew.

Because promises didn't stop bullets.

And Marco was still out there, waiting.
