29: Beast, Where Are You Biting?

On his way to the Wolf Slope, Tristan was thinking about how he would confront the village chief once he acquired the Vampire Baron's heart. He imagined confronting the village chief with righteous anger, making him regret every decision that led to his betrayal.

Of course, that was just Tristan's imagination.

In truth, after the players exposed the village chief's true identity, he would not repent. Instead, he would coax players into joining the vampire faction. Whether the players joined willingly or not, they would eventually be subjugated by the vampire forces and take pleasure in betraying their own kind.

Tristan didn't know how many players would fall for the extra stats and listen to the village chief's lies. He wasn't sure about others, but Tristan was certain DarkSaber had fallen for it. Not only him, but he had also dragged the entire Shadow Legion into the pit.

"When ExoGenesis merges with reality, and death becomes permanent, I'll deal with DarkSaber." Tristan thought with a calm expression.

He wasn't the type to hold grudges, but DarkSaber's actions had given him an excuse to become the righteous executor.

...

Thanks to his high agility, Tristan moved much faster than regular players and quickly arrived at his destination, the Wolf Slope.

Before he got close, the howls of wolves echoed from the tall grass. The air reeked of blood and decay, making the players anxious as they feared a wolf might leap out from the shadows. But no wolf ambush could compare to Tristan's Stealth.

As he searched for the Wolf King, he casually threw a flying dagger to take out any wolves he came across.

The experience cap was locked, but that didn't matter. Once he completed his class advancement, the excess experience would be immediately distributed. He needed more evolution points, so he would eliminate any monsters in sight.

"I'll use up the skill points later," Tristan thought.

Earlier, when he killed Jerobi, he had gained five skill points, which he had yet to use. Now, he decided it was time to put them to good use.

He decided to level up Shadow Stealth to its maximum potential.

"Ding, consumed 2 skill points, Shadow Stealth level increased from LV2 to LV3!"

[Shadow Stealth LV3 (Bronze Grade): Enter Stealth status. Breaking Stealth Strike deals additional (Attack * 140% + 600) damage. Consumes 5 mana, cooldown time: 16 seconds.]

"Ding, consumed 3 skill points, Shadow Stealth level increased from LV3 to LV4!"

[Shadow Stealth LV4 (Bronze Grade): Enter Stealth status. Breaking Stealth Strike deals additional (Attack * 140% + 800) damage. Consumes 5 mana, cooldown time: 16 seconds.]

While leveling up skills only increased the fixed damage and didn't boost the damage multiplier, Tristan wasn't too concerned.

After all, his attack was still relatively low, and increasing the multiplier wouldn't be as effective as boosting the fixed damage.

With an increase of 400 points in fixed damage, coupled with the effects of Breaking Stealth Strike, Weak Spot Attack, and Sniper's multi-tiered boosts, his damage would become much more impressive.

Shadow Dagger would soon break the 10,000 damage mark—an essential leap from four-digit damage to five digits!

The only downside? His talent, Sniper, still had no clear path for improvement.

Currently at LV1, the potential for growth was enormous, but upgrading talents was much harder than other skills.

Most players' talents were fixed once chosen. Sniper being SSS-tier still had plenty of room to grow, suggesting its potential was far from realized.

Tristan even suspected that the talent's true level might be far above its current one, possibly being a divine tier, since it's tied to Damien Arrow.

"Once I finish with the special mode and deal with the village chief, I'll head to the main city," Tristan thought, filled with anticipation.

The new player village was just the beginning of ExoGenesis—the main city and the future expansions would reveal the true vastness of the world!

...

Howl!

The Wolf King's scream rang out across the Wolf Slope.

Once a majestic leader, the Wolf King now scampered like a stray dog, tail between its legs.

A swish, then thud.

The elite wild wolves accompanying it fell silent, collapsing to the ground without a sound.

Yet the Wolf King dared not look back.

The enemy was too terrifying.

After just a few ambushes, it felt as if death itself was calling.

One or two more blows, and the Wolf Slope might have a new ruler.

Howl howl howl!

The Wolf King let out a frustrated scream.

It then received a flying dagger. Its health dropped significantly.

Frightened, the Wolf King immediately closed its mouth, not daring to make a sound and only continuing its desperate flight.

In the Wolf King's mind, there was one obsession:

It had to reach that place.

If it could reach that destination, even at the cost of its own destruction, it would ensure the enemy would pay with their life!

...

Tristan smiled as he watched the Wolf King flee to the north.

The beast was smart—he knew how to lead the enemy to its worst enemy.

Indeed, the Wolf King and the Vampire Baron were bitter enemies.

It wasn't just a rivalry between the two; it was a deep-seated hatred between werewolves and vampires.

Although the Wolf King was still a wolf, its genetic hatred for vampires was unshakable.

After Tristan activated the hidden dungeon, the Wolf King was subtly guided, sensing that the enemy was to the north.

But its strength was too weak to kill the foe.

No matter. The Wolf King had found an enemy it couldn't defeat, and now it was drawing them to its bitter enemy, a battle to the death.

If it died, at least the enemy would not escape unscathed.

...

Many players heading toward the hidden dungeon, Crimson Tomb, witnessed an unforgettable scene.

The mighty Bronze Grade BOSS, the One-eyed Wolf King, was running through the Granite Hills!

But it looked as though the Wolf King was in a poor state, nearly dead.

Excited players immediately prepared to deal the final blow.

But before they could strike, the Wolf King swung a claw, sending them to the resurrection point.

With disdain in its eyes, the Wolf King thought, "Weak humans. I can't beat that shadow enemy, but can't defeat you either?"

Frustrated and angry, the Wolf King attacked nearby players, its pent-up rage bursting forth.

Tristan, still hidden in the shadows, was not pleased.

"What are you doing? Hurry up and jump into the dungeon!"

Tristan threw another flying dagger.

-4600!

To avoid the Wolf King's death, Tristan had reduced his distance to just 30 meters and deliberately avoided its vital spots.

Even so, the high damage made the Wolf King come to its senses, its gaze clearing.

The air reeked with an undeniable scent, and the Wolf King realized its mortal enemy was nearby.

Without hesitation, the Wolf King leapt off the cliff and into the dungeon entrance.

A terrifying, eerie voice rang through the entire Granite Hills.

"Damn beast, where do you think you're biting?!"
