Chapter 64: Journey to Mount Myōboku

Watching Jiraiya's retreating figure, Danzō's lone eye glinted with a dangerous light as his expression darkened.

"Danzō-sama, should we teach him a lesson?" asked the monkey-masked shinobi, one of Danzō's most trusted subordinates.

He could sense the anger boiling within Danzō and was eager to take advantage of the moment to prove his loyalty. Having been completely subdued by Danzō's Sharingan, the shinobi had long since lost his sense of self, becoming nothing more than a puppet. To him, Danzō was everything—the heavens, his lord, and his master.

Now that Jiraiya had angered their master, the shinobi was keen to take action against him.

Slap!

Danzō's hand struck the monkey-masked shinobi across the face. His tone was icy as he said,

"I don't need your input on how to handle my affairs."

"My apologies, Danzō-sama. This subordinate understands his mistake," the shinobi stammered, immediately kneeling in terror.

Indeed, Jiraiya's refusal had infuriated Danzō. However, he knew better than to act against Jiraiya openly within Konoha. Hiruzen Sarutobi would never let such a move slide. And at this moment, Danzō lacked the strength to challenge the Hokage directly.

Jiraiya, having returned home unscathed, was somewhat surprised. He had fully prepared for an ambush by Danzō's subordinates.

"In the original timeline, Danzō was relentless when it came to achieving his goals. If he's holding back now, it's because he still fears the Hokage," Jiraiya muttered to himself, relaxing slightly.

He knew that while Danzō had not acted today, it was only a matter of time before he tried again. If Danzō stayed in line, Jiraiya might let him live a little longer. But should he attempt to use force, he'd only hasten his own demise.

Currently, Danzō hadn't transplanted Hashirama's cells or Uchiha Sharingan, meaning his strength was limited to that of an elite jōnin—far from reaching Kage-level. Jiraiya was confident that with more time, he could become strong enough to take Danzō down easily.

As Jiraiya entered his home, something caught his eye. A portion of a scroll was sticking out from behind a cabinet.

He furrowed his brows in suspicion. Having thoroughly cleaned every corner of this house after his transmigration, he was certain no such scroll had been there before.

Someone had been here.

Activating his Insight Eye, Jiraiya scanned the entire house for enemies but found nothing. Cautiously, he enveloped his hand in chakra and reached for the scroll.

"Is this... Mount Myōboku's summoning scroll?" Jiraiya's eyes widened as he unrolled it. The scroll bore the markings of several toads and detailed the Summoning Jutsu.

"So I was right. The reason Jiraiya was able to sign a contract with Mount Myōboku's toads was because they sought him out first," he muttered, confirming his theory.

This revelation also eased one of his concerns—his transmigration had not disrupted the Great Toad Sage's prophecy. Despite everything, the sage had still foreseen him and guided the "Child of Prophecy" onto the correct path.

But Jiraiya knew better than to put his faith in prophecies. He was determined to use his presence to reshape the ninja world into a place of lasting peace.

"Once I learn this Summoning Jutsu, I should be able to travel to Mount Myōboku. There, I'll gain access to powerful summons and the path to mastering Sage Mode," Jiraiya thought, immediately immersing himself in studying the scroll.

Both Sage Mode and Mount Myōboku's toads could significantly enhance his strength.

After memorizing the hand seals for the Summoning Jutsu, Jiraiya wasted no time.

"Let's get this done now."

He bit his thumb, drawing blood, and slammed his hand onto the ground.

"Summoning Jutsu!"

A summoning array appeared beneath him, and the space ahead rippled and twisted. A powerful force enveloped him, pulling him forward.

Jiraiya didn't resist and allowed himself to be drawn into the distorted space. A sensation of weightlessness and vertigo overcame him before the scenery changed completely.

He found himself in a verdant world filled with enormous plants.

"This must be Mount Myōboku," Jiraiya murmured, taking in the lush surroundings.

In the original timeline, Jiraiya's first arrival at Mount Myōboku coincided with Gamabunta's clash with a giant snake. Helping Gamabunta drive the snake away, Jiraiya had earned the toad boss's trust and secured their partnership.

However, this time, Jiraiya saw no signs of any toads. Activating his Insight Eye, he scanned the area and noticed faint green particles of energy floating in the air.

"Natural energy. No wonder Mount Myōboku is one of the Three Great Sage Regions—it's brimming with it," Jiraiya remarked in awe.

Unlike in Konoha, where natural energy was undetectable, Mount Myōboku seemed to thrive on it. Jiraiya began to suspect that the three Sage Regions absorbed the majority of the natural energy in the ninja world, explaining their uniqueness.

After walking for a short distance, Jiraiya encountered two small but familiar figures—Shima and Fukasaku, the elder toads of Mount Myōboku.

"Welcome to Mount Myōboku, young one," Fukasaku greeted warmly.

"So, you're the ones who left the scroll in my house and dragged me to this place?" Jiraiya asked, feigning ignorance.

"Mind your words, boy!" Shima snapped. "This is no 'place.' This is Mount Myōboku, one of the Three Great Sage Regions. We brought you here with good intentions. You've nothing to fear—this is a chance for you to grow stronger."

"To prove our sincerity, here are some scrolls for you to study," Fukasaku said, summoning a pile of scrolls and handing them to Jiraiya.

Opening the scrolls, Jiraiya found a wealth of techniques, including several he recognized:

Toad Oil Bullet

Needle Jizō

Wild Lion's Mane Technique

Toad Flatness — Shadow Manipulation

Toad Oil Flame Bullet

'These techniques were all used during Jiraiya's fight against Pain in the original story. Their power is undeniable,' Jiraiya thought, his determination growing.
