Chapter 11: The Scout

Nori quickly tried to prepare himself for the enemy before him but didn't really know what to expect with this creature yet. But not long after lifting his fists the scout had disappeared from sight as if it was gone entirely.

What? I swear it was just here moments ago so what happened?

Nori began to look around the area, a bit terrified of what to do next since he wasn't used to fighting these monsters yet. Everything was still extremely new to him so he had to learn with each encounter he has with them.

It's going to be a pain in the ass if this thing can use some sort of invisibility like Rika just did. I really don't want to fight some invisible bastard.

Fighting is still not my strong suit so I need to figure out how to get better with this thing as a whole.

Breathe in, breathe out. I need to calm myself down a bit more since I've been shaking this whole time. The situation is terrifying but I've got to be a lot braver if I'm going to help save the world right?

Nori stands there for a moment, taking in a couple of deep breaths as he looks around the area. He doesn't seem to notice anything at first but then he just barely sees something move directly in front of him.

Found ya. He can feel the power surging throughout his body once again until he notices the glowing in his right hand once again.

That's what happened before so this is definitely some of that power that's inside me right? I guess it's time to put myself to the test once again.

Fighting for the sake of saving the world, for the sake of keeping Grandpa safe, and I guess I should start focusing on keeping Rika safe too.

"You got this Nori." Rika thinks to herself as she watches in the distance.

My bloodline is considered to be rare now right? Prophets are basically extinct so let's show these things what I'm capable of.

Nori kind of starts doing tiny little jumps in place as he prepares to attack the creature. He starts to notice that his feet feel rather light all of a sudden too.

Did my power shift to my feet as well? I think I'm slowly understanding it a bit more as the time goes by. I'll need to be fast enough to hit this thing so it's time for me to take this a bit more serious than I am.

Fear has consumed me each time, the thought of dying has been on my mind too, forget it all. Just don't think about anything and I can do this.

The scout immediately appeared before him, ready to dig it's spear like hands into Nori but he dodged the attack with ease. He was shocked by his sudden reflexes but didn't let it stop him from doing what he needs to do.

I don't know how I did that but right now this thing needs to die. The thought passed through his mind and he rushed the scout with no hesitation.

Pushing himself off the ground with his right leg he prepared to punch the scout as he flew through the air. Bam!!!! As his fist connected with its head he began to feel its head coming off of its body.

Rip. Rip. Tear!!! The head went flying off of its body and into one of the old buildings across the road.

Thud. As Nori landed on the ground he watched the body of the scout fall backwards before looking down at his fist.

Am I really that strong?

Thump. Thump. Nori grabs onto his chest as a sharp pain begins to form within it. "What is this..?" Nori asks softly while falling to his knees for a moment.

Rika notices what's happening and immediately runs over to him, not wasting any time. As she reaches him she notices that his aura is only getting bigger and bigger.

"Nori your power is just growing like crazy. Just breathe, you need to calm down. Your body isn't use to the amount of power within you." Rika says while placing her hand on his shoulder.

I know it's not use to it which is why I tried not to use it too much back there but I couldn't help the amount that came out with that attack. It turned into pure strength as I hit the scouts head off which wasn't something I expected.

Nori looks up at Rika with a scared expression on his face. "This won't kill me right..?" He asks with a bit of worry in his voice.

She pulls him in for a hug as she holds him tightly. "You'll be okay, I promise." She assures him while holding onto him.

I could feel her warm embrace and it was definitely a nice distraction from the pain coursing throughout my body. I didn't really know what to do with everything I'm feeling inside right now.

It's incredibly painful or at least it was until she started hugging me, what am I supposed to do?

"Rely on her kid. I trusted them from the beginning but didn't rely enough on Irie. Don't make my mistake." Kamako's voice echoes besides him.

That guy from before? I don't know how I can hear him since we were only able to talk in that weird place before. Either way he's right though, I need to rely on Rika.

I should've proven by now that I'm at least strong enough to deal with things so maybe she'll actually help out the next time. But would it even be helping with the kind of damage I just did to that thing?

She needs to teach me more about my power though, right now it just feels like it enhances my raw strength and speed. I'm sure there's a lot more to it than this.

"Thank you for calming me down Rika." Nori says with a bit of relief in his voice.
