Gu Yue suddenly opened her eyes. What met her sight was a completely unfamiliar world.
"Where is this!?" As a Super God King, Gu Yue's vigilance and reflexes were exceptionally sharp. She immediately flipped up and sat upright, summoning her Dragon God Spear at the very first moment.
The Dragon God Spear—a transcendent divine weapon—was forged from the fusion of her Golden Dragon Spear and Silver Dragon Spear, infused with her own comprehension.
It was in no way inferior to the Ascension Dragon Spear once wielded by the Dragon God.
The moment the spear appeared in her hand, Gu Yue's gaze snapped upward. At the distant end of the sky, a faint figure had somehow appeared without her noticing.
"Who are you!?" Gu Yue demanded loudly, gripping her Dragon God Spear tightly as she strained her eyes to see clearly.
Although the figure was far off at the edge of the heavens, Gu Yue slowly made out their features. The person stood with their back to her, tall and slender, long black hair casually draped over their shoulders, dressed entirely in white, immaculate and flawless.
They stood with hands clasped behind their back, gazing into the firmament as though contemplating the vastness of all creation. Their clothes fluttered, merging into the horizon—blending entirely into the heavens and the earth.
"Xia Yi!" Gu Yue immediately let out a breath of relief and retracted her spear. That silhouette—she was too familiar with it. Even from the back, she could recognize him in an instant.
"Xia Yi, where is this place? How did we get here?" Gu Yue took a step that spanned a thousand miles, swiftly approaching Xia Yi.
Sensing her rapid approach, Xia Yi slowly turned his head. It was indeed Xia Yi. His gaze met Gu Yue's curious eyes midair.
His bright pupils were unfathomably deep, as though they held the universe within. In just one glance, it was as if the cosmos itself imprinted itself into Gu Yue's mind.
"No! You're not Xia Yi. You're not my husband. You're not my Xia Yi!" Gu Yue suddenly shook her head and rapidly backed away. Though the man looked like Xia Yi, she could feel that those eyes were not his.
They indeed held the universe, yes—but when they looked at her, there was not a trace of emotion.
This was not Xia Yi.
Xia Yi would never look at her with such eyes.
"No—!" Gu Yue let out a scream, hoarse and desperate, and suddenly jolted upright from Xia Yi's arms.
"Yue'er, what's wrong!?" The real Xia Yi beside her was startled awake, seeing Gu Yue drenched in sweat, clearly distressed.
"Xia Yi, husband, you—you're okay, thank goodness…" Seeing him beside her, Gu Yue lunged into his arms and burst into tears.
"What happened, Yue'er? Tell me," Xia Yi hugged her tightly, gently comforting her. In his memory, this was the first time Gu Yue had lost her composure like this.
"Ugh!" Gu Yue bit Xia Yi's shoulder hard as she sobbed, "Husband, I won't act out anymore. I won't fight with the teacher anymore, won't provoke you on purpose anymore. From now on, whatever you say goes. Whatever you want, I'll give you. Just don't leave me, please!"
Gu Yue bit down so fiercely that blood began to flow, but she refused to let go—as though only by doing this could she ensure he wouldn't leave her.
"Don't worry. My Yue'er is so beautiful, your husband will never leave you." Xia Yi endured the pain and held her tightly, stroking her back softly. "Tell me, Yue'er—what exactly happened?"
"Mm… Husband, I had a nightmare. It was so real," Gu Yue said, her mouth full of blood.
"A nightmare?" Xia Yi was stunned. With Gu Yue's cultivation level, how could she have a nightmare?
"I dreamed… I dreamed that you recovered your past life memories and didn't want me anymore. You abandoned me…" Gu Yue's delicate body trembled as she sobbed in his arms.
"You regained your memories of a past life…" Xia Yi's body also stiffened. This was an issue he couldn't escape. He knew that eventually, he would have to face this.
"Yue'er, my dear, I swear I will never abandon you. Please tell me—what did you dream exactly?"
"You promise?" Gu Yue rested her head on Xia Yi's shoulder, still crying as she said, "I dreamed that we were separated by infinite distance. When you looked at me, there was no emotion at all in your eyes—just like looking at a stranger. That look… it terrified me. I was so afraid. So scared, husband…"
"Yue'er, be good. Trust your husband. I'll never leave you." Xia Yi held her tightly. He could tell—Gu Yue was genuinely terrified.
As a Super God King, she would never have such a nightmare for no reason.
Gu Yue understood that as well. That's why she was so afraid.
All these years, she had gotten used to having Xia Yi by her side. She simply couldn't imagine life without him. If he ever left her, what would become of her?
"Yue'er, believe me. I am your husband. No matter what happens, you will always have a place here." Xia Yi took her right hand and pressed it firmly against his chest, letting her feel his strong heartbeat.
He hadn't expected that just one look—one cold gaze—could reduce the Super God King Gu Yue to such a state.
How much must she care about him?
"Mm!" Gu Yue nodded vigorously. She believed that no matter what happened, Xia Yi would never forget her—just as she could never forget him.
Before Xia Yi could say anything else, the door burst open. The Demon Empress suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Big Sister Yue—ah! So much blood! Were you two having… that intense of a time?" she gasped, her body shuddering when she saw them entwined in bed and the blood on Xia Yi's shoulder.
"Uhh… don't misunderstand. You can see—it was a bite," Xia Yi replied awkwardly. His soul rings lit up, and with a twist of cosmic energy, he instantly healed the bite mark on his shoulder.
"Sister Haijun, why are you here in such a rush?" Gu Yue also sat up and looked at the Demon Empress.
"The Buddha Child just informed me that Poseidon of the Douluo Plane has become a god ahead of schedule and is preparing to communicate with the Divine Realm. I'm planning to go check it out and came to ask if you want to come."
She asked tentatively. Under normal circumstances, both Xia Yi and Gu Yue would definitely want to go.
But now, her eyes fell subtly on their still-unclothed bodies. Tactfully, she added, "Or maybe… I can go first, and you two can rest for now. If I need you, I'll let you know."
"No need, let's go together." Xia Yi shook his head, looked at Gu Yue, and said firmly, "Trust me."
"Mm!" Hearing his voice, Gu Yue nodded hard once more, a smile finally appearing on her face.
Looking at Xia Yi, the fear in her heart vanished. In this moment, she felt more grounded than ever before.
Yes… she had been overthinking it. It was just a dream. If she truly trusted Xia Yi, then there was no reason to fear.
Having sorted out her thoughts, Gu Yue laughed gently.
She took out some clothes and helped Xia Yi get dressed with the Demon Empress. The three of them quickly left the Genesis Origin and headed toward the Douluo Plane.
On the way, the Demon Empress curiously asked, "Big Sister Yue, husband—what exactly happened to you two?"
"It's nothing, just a nightmare," Gu Yue replied with a soft smile, and briefly recounted the dream.
The Demon Empress's body trembled violently, and her face instantly turned pale.
"Husband… why don't Yue'er and I go alone? You stay here in the Genesis Origin. I swear, as long as I'm here, I won't let anything happen to Yulai and the others."
She looked at Xia Yi with almost pleading eyes. Gu Yue having such a nightmare at this critical moment… it couldn't be a coincidence.
Gu Yue feared losing Xia Yi—but the Demon Empress feared it too.
