The man was trembling, eyes wide and full of terror, his voice barely more than a strangled whisper.



Blood dripped from Luka’s hands, pooling at his feet, but none of it was his. Not a scratch marked his skin—only the crimson stains of the lives he had already taken.



He crouched low, bringing himself face-to-face with the man. “I’ll make it quick.”



The man sobbed harder at this statement, his hands clenching uselessly at the dirt beneath him as if begging the ground itself for mercy.



Luka didn’t flinch.

He didn’t waver.

Mercy wasn’t part of the game.



Behind him, shadows twisted unnaturally, whispering promises of power, of more blood to spill. They clung to him like old friends, feeding on his resolve, urging him forward. He didn’t need their encouragement—this was what he had become.



A knight once sworn to protect. A man once burdened by weakness. But here, in this world where survival ruled and hesitation meant death, Luka was something else entirely.
