Beep—! Beep—! Beep—!
"Haaa"
Rubbing my eyes as I woke up from my sweet slumber hearing that stupid alarm clock ringing in my ears.
I then proceeded to turn it off although quite sluggishly.
I then sat on my bed for a good five minutes.
Haa. Fuck. I really don't wanna go to school anymore. Like why did I have to reincarnate in a place with a compulsory attendance and subsequent deployment in the military.
Damn it. Haaa.
I then stood up from the bed, walked towards the closet and picked up my bathrobe and headed towards the bathroom.
As I headed towards the bathroom, I looked at the clock once more as it displayed [6:30 AM].
Fuck. It's still early. I am very much tempted to go back to bed but no. Stay strong Nathan.
Stay strong.
And before I forget, I need to do a little exercise before taking my bath.
This was the routine I had adopted. Wake up, stare at the ceiling and think about my life for 5 minutes, exercise and then have my bath.
I mean that's my routine for the past two weeks anyway.
Anyway let's get this over with.
I then started my morning exercise. 100 push ups, 100 squats, and 100 sit ups.
"Haa, Haa, Haa." When I was done, I was breathing heavily due to the slight exhaustion.
Although this body was accustomed to heavy exercise, my mind wasn't. In my previous world I never did exercise as strenuous as this.
Not like my grandma would-
Oh right. Grandma. Grandpa. My thoughts flashed to the two people who had basically been my parents since my real ones turned their backs on me.
How were they doing. They must've taken my death hard didn't they? Haaa. Fuck.
Crack
"Hmm?" Raising my head at the sound of glass cracking, I saw my hand on the mirror.
I must've hit with quite some force. Haa. Forget it. I'll just use the one in the bathroom.
I then took my bathrobe and headed inside the bathroom.
**************
After about seven minutes spent in the bathroom, I stepped out.
I was putting on my bathrobe while my towel was on my hair drying it since it was obviously wet.
Looking at the cracked mirror, I couldn't help but admire my physique.
I was much more muscular than I was in my previous world.
And the water droplets dripping down my chest down to my slim yet muscular waist was almost making my body sparkle, adding more to my beauty.
Shit. Fuck was that. That felt cringe as hell. Anyway time to go prepare.
**************
Walking through the academy gates, I noticed groups of cadets gathering together.
Well when I say gathering, I don't mean it in a literal sense, just that friend groups were now forming.
The usual cliques had huddled up, chatting animatedly about whatever drama or gossip had surfaced overnight.
As I couldn't be bothered (mostly because I still hadn't managed to make any friends😭), I didn't really pay any attention—that is until something heavy landed on my back with the force of a small hurricane.
"Morning sleepyhead!" Natasha's voice chirped in my ear, her arms wrapping around my shoulders like a protective koala.
I stumbled forward(obviously, I'm not superman) barely managing to stabilise myself before turning back to see her grinning face, her blue hair catching the sunlight like it was personally sponsored by some kind of glitter factory.
"Natasha", I groaned, trying to sound annoyed but failing.
Why? Well because it's Natasha.
"Do you have to ambush me every morning? One of these days I'm going to drop my coffee on you and it'llbe entirelyon your conscience".
She hopped off my back, landing lightly on her feet, and falling into step beside me.
"Oh please. You don't even drink coffee. You're more of a 'water and existential dread' kind of guy in the mornings"
I rolled my eyes. "And you're a 'jump on people and acted like a monkey' kind of girl so what's your point?"
She laughed, her voice carrying that infectious energy that somehow since childhood always made even the most mundane mornings feel brighter.
"My point is, you'd be lost without me. Whether you admit it or not."
"Lost? You wish. Infact I think I'd finally have some peace in my life." I shot back as the corner of my mouth twitched upward.
She just smiled back at me sticking her tongue out.
Yeah she probably knows I didn't mean that. Not fully anyway. She was the kind of girl who could make anyone and anything smile.
Even if they were a rock. And despite being a grump for most of 'my' childhood, even I found it difficult to resist that enthusiasm of hers.
"Anyway", I heard her voice, snapping me out of my thoughts as I looked forward to see she had skipped ahead of me as she turned around to face me, walking backward.
"Are you ready for the test today?"
"Huh?" I blinked. "What test?"
She stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes widening in mock horror. "Nate. Don't tell me you forgot about the test we're having. You know the one we've been talking about for almost a week now. You know the one that accounts for about twenty percent of our grade. Ring any bells".
I just stared blankly at her, my brain scrambling to catch up. "You've been talking about it for a week? Huh. I just tuned you out tho".
She threw up her hands in exasperation. "Unbelievable! How do you even function? Do you just wander through life hoping someone will tell you what's going on?"
"Pretty much," I said with a shrug. "It's worked so far".
Well in my past life it kinda did so I'm not wrong.
Natasha groaned, dragging her hand down her face. "You're hopeless. Absolutely hopeless."
She then grinned, "Good thing you got me to keep you in line".
"Yeah, yeah." I muttered, shoving my hands into my pockets. "So, what's the test on? Please tell me it's something easy, like 'how to survive Natasha's endless rant 101'"
She stuck out her tongue at me. "Very funny. It's on tactical theory. You know what we've been taught so far this past two weeks. The stuff you're supposedly good at."
I winced. Tactical theory. Right. I was good at it—when I could pay it attention. Which, admittedly, wasn't often.
"Okay, so maybe I'll wing it. It's still like it's the end of the world."
She then gave me a look that could only be described as "mildly horrified but not surprised."
"You're impossible you know."
"Yeah. So I've been told." I said, grinning. We continued talking until we arrived at the door to the class room.
