Chapter 36 - Spar

We headed towards the elevator. As we entered, River pressed the zero button to take us to the underground floor as that was where the training facilities for the building was.

Only the cadets in building 7 had their own personal training facilities installed in their rooms.

As the elevator took us down my, I noticed everyone lost in their own thoughts. Didn't know what they were thinking about, but as for me, I was wondering how this would play out.

Marcus was confident in his abilities. And rightly so. I knew just how strong he was. And he was strong. I mean he had to be. In the novel, he's someone who becomes the protagonist's right hand man.

And as for said protagonist. I looked over at him. He was quiet, and unassuming, no doubt but I knew. He was dangerous. Absurdly so.

Most cadets here probably put him off as not a true danger because he lacks a superpower, but I know better.

He was probably the strongest of us here. As well as one of the strongest first years. Although he can take on Theodore as he is currently.

That guy is on another level.

Anyway, soon the elevator came to a stop snapping me out of my thoughts.

The doors then slid open as we walked out and headed into the floor.

The training facility was huge. Well the entire floor zero was the training area.

It looked like the average gym with normal gym equipments all over.

The reason for this was because this place was mainly for building body muscle and stamina as this helped in increasing synchronisation rate with the nano-tech suits.

As for this synchronisation rate increase. It works like this. Basically the suits are all made with the same specs in terms of durability, strength, and speed.

The rest, things like heat sensors, advanced propulsion systems and even weapon compartments, only the new versions had them.

Anyway, on the chest area of all nano-tech suits was Etherium. Synchronisation rate refers to how much of the Etheriums' power the suit is able to draw.

And the most basic ways to increase synchronisation rate was training (ie building stamina, body building etc).

Anyway as we headed towards the spar section, I looked at the faces of the others. Maria was chatting excitedly with River, Marcus was brooding as usual, and Lucas was just... there, his expression unreadable.

Haaa

I sighed inwardly. This unit was a mess, and yet we still need each other, in order to pass the unit test, we'll have to figure out how to work with each other whether we like it or not.

Anyway we finally reached the spar section and River walked up to the lady in front of a computer.

They spoke for a bit before the woman handed her five bracelets like the one we wore at the entrance exam and a keycard for one of the spar rooms.

She then came and handed each of us one. I wore the bracelet on my right hand before it tightened itself on me.

The reason we were using the bracelets was because in a typical Terra spar, no one pulled their punches especially as we were all going to use our nano-tech suits.

And seeing as we wanted to see the ones most suited in combat, it was a given.

River then led us to the room we were allocated as she swiped the key card on the door and it opened with a soft click.

Well more like slided open.

We then walked in and well the place was big. A lot bigger than it looked on the outside.

I'm assuming this was the work of the Alderans again.

Anyway, as soon as we entered, we all began stretching. All of us except Maria who has explicitly stated she wasn't going to fight.

Lucas as well stayed on the sidelines with Maria, his face obviously disinterested.

As for River, she wanted to fight, infact her expression showed she was quite interested in how each of us applied our abilities in combat.

I closed my eyes and then muttered, "Activate", and in a matter of seconds, my nano-tech suit encased me.

I looked around and saw Marcus and River had done the same.

I then drew my katana and launched myself at them as we began the spar in ernest.
