Maril watched Selene and the scumbag from her spot. To keep an eye on them better, she and the two men had entered the café and chosen a table. They were far away from the couple but closer to the door. So, if Selene and the trash were to leave, they could easily follow them out.
"What a miser!" Maril mumbled as she looked at the prices of each dish on the menu. She had assumed that he would take Selene to a classy restaurant. Who knew he'd take her to a café?
Yet it didn't diminish her excitement and she read the menu while Rambo kept an eye on their target, more like he was glaring daggers at him, wishing to drill a hole through his head.
"Let's buy something. They are still eating. So, we might as well eat and fill our tummy." Maril chose a club sandwich before passing the menu to Yoda.
"I'll have a chicken sandwich. What about you?" Yoda passed the menu to Rambo, who didn't even reach out to take it.
"Just a coke."
"A coke for us too," Maril added.
The waiter took their orders and the three people returned to keeping an eye on Selene and the man in front of her.
Maril discreetly texted Selene. 'Keep him engaged until we finish eating.'
Selene read the message, and she sent a thumbs up instantly in reply.
"Diva, are you sure that trash has not seen us before?" Yoda whispered and Maril nodded at him.
"Don't worry, he won't recognize us. He hasn't seen us and neither has Selene shown him our pictures. We are safe," Maril assured him and Yoda was relieved.
"Awesome." Yoda relaxed instantly and looked around the café. Since Maril and Rambo were both keeping an eye on the two, he didn't have to waste his energy on them. He might as well admire the place he was in.
Even though it was a café, the place had a vintage vibe. From where they were, they could see the ocean clearly, hence the name Café Ocean View. The breeze carried with it the scent of the ocean and sea salt. A jazz song was playing through the speaker, giving the place a romantic vibe. All in all, it was an ideal spot for a date.
Yoda felt all the stress in him diminish slowly. The cafe was exactly to his liking and he thought of opening a similar place once he retired. How amazing would that be!
Their food arrived a few minutes later and Yoda and Maril dived in to eat their sandwiches. Since Selene had agreed to keep the man engaged until they finished eating, they had nothing to worry about.
Rambo didn't even bother looking away. His eyes remained intact on Selene and the scum while he pulled the glass of coke towards him. His gaze was so intense that Selene looked at him a few times.
Fortunately for them, the man's back was facing them. Otherwise, they would have been busted long ago.
"Will you stop watching directly?" Maril scolded Rambo when she saw the message Selene sent her. "It's making Selene antsy. That scumbag might notice something."
Rambo finally averted his gaze away from Selene and sipped his coke and both, Maril and Selene sighed in relief.
"The sandwich tastes great. We should probably frequent this place in the future," Maril mumbled and licked her lips.
"Agreed." Yoda nodded instantly. Even though he knew the underlying meaning behind her words, he was fine with the suggestion. At least for a few days, they could eat something else rather than the boring burger. He was close to throwing up every time he thought about burgers.
"What do you say, Rambo?" Maril didn't leave Rambo out of the conversation. So what if the girl he liked was just a few feet away from him and was about to break up with her boyfriend? That didn't mean he could ignore his friends. Nope. Never. She would never allow it.
"Whatever you say."
"Cool. It's decided then." Maril decided and took a sip of coke before returning to her last bite. "My stomach is happy." She patted her tummy in contentment and smiled widely.
"Mine too," Yoda added and ate the last bite before finishing his coke.
"Does anyone want to eat anything else?" Maril looked back and forth between the two men. While Yoda shook his head, Rambo didn't speak a word. She had received the reply.
"We are good to go then. Yoda, pay the bill."
"What?" Yoda almost screamed. If they were not in a public place, he'd have screamed for sure and scolded Maril for being inhuman. Was that how a leader treated her underlings? Shouldn't she be paying?
"Why me, Diva?"
"Because I didn't bring my wallet," Maril said as a matter of fact.
"You have your phone with you." Yoda didn't succumb that easily.
"There's some problem with the payment app. I can't pay right now." Maril came up with an instant excuse.
"Ask Rambo to pay. I am not paying," Yoda grumbled and threw a tantrum.
"I'll transfer the money to you when we return. Now, go and pay."
Yoda scowled. But eventually, he gave up arguing and went to pay the bill.
Maril, once again, sent a message to Selene, this time, indicating that they were ready.
Selene didn't spring into action right after reading the message. Instead, she waited a few more minutes before she started executing the plan.
"Shall we leave?" she questioned and the man nodded.
Once he settled the bill, Selene walked out with the man right behind her. However, Maril and the two men didn't move from their place. Instead, they waited.
A few minutes later, Selene came running back and signaled Maril, and it was then the trio got into action.
"He is near his car. Be careful," Selene cautioned them and the three nodded at her before they went in search of him.
Selene had already revealed where the car was parked. So, they didn't have a hard time finding it. There was only one man beside the car, and he seemed lost in his phone.
Since his back was facing them, they couldn't see his face. But who else could it be other than the scumbag?
The trio approached him stealthily with Maril in the lead. With precise actions, she struck his neck, and the man lost consciousness immediately.
