Simon sat on the edge of the bed, his eyes fixed on the sniper scope, watching the hotel entrance where his target was supposed to arrive in the coming hours. Despite his apparent calm, his mind was filled with thoughts.
He had lived this scenario before, every step, every decision, even the smallest details etched into his memory. But now in a different situation, the knowledge he possessed gave him an advantage he didn't have the first time. The question haunted him: would he follow the same steps or would he change the course of events?
He lifted the sniper to his shoulder and looked through the scope, surveying the place carefully. Everything was as he remembered, the security men in their positions, the cameras strategically placed, and the armored cars lined up in front of the main entrance. The previous time, he had succeeded in killing Qiao Chu Xin from a distance, but he had barely escaped the chase that followed. Now, he had a chance to improve his plan, to avoid the mistakes that almost cost him his life. But would he be able to avoid a similar fate?
He closed the bag, and got up calmly. He knew he couldn't carry out the operation the same old way without risking becoming the pursuer instead of the pursued. No, this time he had to be more cunning.
He dressed smartly, then left his room and headed to the hotel lobby. The ceiling lights were flickering dimly, as if reflecting his inner tension. He sat in a far corner, watching the customers and passersby, studying their faces, their body language. He was looking for a specific person… Then he saw what he was looking for.
A man in his mid-forties, wearing a black suit, his eyes sharp, holding his phone as he spoke seriously. This was the leader of Xiao Zhu Xin's security team, the same man who had led him into the trap last time. This was the turning point. If he could control this man, the operation would be much easier.
Simon took a slow breath, then got up and headed towards the bar where the man was sitting. He ordered a cup of coffee, and waited for the right moment. He knew that time was of the essence. After a few minutes, the man ended his call and looked around, as if making sure the place was clear of threats.
Then, Simon spoke in a low but audible voice:
"You should reconsider your security plan, there are obvious loopholes."
The man turned quickly, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. "Who are you?"
Simon smiled slightly, took a sip of his coffee and said calmly:
"Someone who wants to give you a chance to avoid a disaster."
His eyes were fixed, he knew that the real hunter did not always appear as a lion... but sometimes, he disguised himself as an ordinary man, sitting at a table in a dark corner, smiling confidently. This time, Simon was not just an assassin carrying out a mission... but a player changing the rules of the game.
The time was approaching. Simon was watching everything with fixed eyes, not caring about those around him. Slowly, he began to build a precise mental picture of his next steps. He knew that the plan he had prepared would not be simple. He did not want to become just an ordinary assassin, but rather he sought to make every moment of this operation exceptional, so that no one would expect the end to be the same.
His gaze focused on the man who had been watching him a few moments ago. He was the head of Qiao's security, and he would be the key to implementing his plan. The man was smiling now after the phone call, but he didn't know that his next destination would be full of surprises.
Simon got up, his steps calm, his eyes watching everything around him. He headed towards the bathroom, his eyes on his wristwatch. Only five minutes. At the same time, he had determined a specific location to leave, a place he knew well from his detailed study of the place.
At that moment, the man he had been watching started heading towards the entrance, and before he entered, Simon caught sight of a hotel employee walking towards him. It was the perfect opportunity. He put his hand in the pocket of his black coat, and took out an essential item: a small transmitter, which he had prepared especially for this moment.
While the man was busy entering the entrance, Simon sent a signal to the hotel's monitoring devices, which activated several fake alarms, putting the security on high alert, and causing the team leader to rush directly to the monitoring area, where the security team was waiting for him.
The idea was to activate all the security devices at the same time, causing all the guards to be in a state of confusion, so that they would lose control of the vital areas. But Simon did not stop there. He sent a message on his mobile phone, the text of which was simple but disturbing: "The situation is threatened, Road No. 3 must be secured." That was enough to confuse everyone in the hotel, and create chaos through which he would facilitate his access to his target.
Simon calmly returned to his place, and sat in a far corner, where there was a window overlooking the path that Qiao would take. He looked through the binoculars, as the target was now heading towards the elevator, heading to his room, amidst the chaos that Simon had created. That was the decisive moment.
But what distinguished Simon's plan was that he did not rely on weapons alone. It was the knowledge he had about everything in the hotel, about every person, that would give him the advantage. He had paid huge sums of money to obtain accurate information about travel plans, the people accompanying him, and the places they would visit. All these details would help him determine the perfect moment.
But Simon wasn't planning to carry out the assassination so easily. The big surprise was elsewhere.
As Qiao headed towards his room, Simon was watching from afar, making sure that all the guards had moved away from the site. At that moment, Simon smiled wickedly. He had decided that it wouldn't be wise to kill Qiao at that moment. Because he knew that an assassin who worked clearly always left behind traces, but in this case, he wanted to keep things mysterious, until the very end.
He grabbed his phone, and sent a short message to the businessman via an encrypted channel. The text of the message was very vague: "You are in danger, do not go to your room, your security is threatened."
Within seconds, Simon received a vital signal through the transmitter, confirming that the target had decided to change course. Just as he had planned.
At that moment, Simon had put his plan in place.
