Chapter 4

I was dragged back to my room by the bodyguards.

In the middle of the night, I heard the roar of a sports car fading into the distance outside my window.

Not long after, someone pushed open the door and entered my room.

I couldn't open my eyes, but I could sense the person walking up to me, bending down, and examining me closely.

The familiar scent wafting to my nose instantly confirmed the identity of the visitor.

It was Jasmine.

She chuckled softly, "Stop pretending, Scarlett. I know you're still awake. Your mom left the mansion, so I came to check on you, my dear best friend."

I slowly opened my eyes and looked up at her.

That face, beautiful as a blooming flower, was full of mockery and derision.

"Why are you doing this to me?"

Jasmine retorted, "How can your memory be so poor? Didn't I already tell you? I want everything you have."

She paused, then suddenly changed her tone, adding with apparent disappointment:

"But I never expected that you'd be like a turd wrapped in gold leaf. Seemingly glamorous on the outside, yet not a single person truly loves you. It's so unfulfilling. You're such a loser, Scarlett.""Not so fast. Now they all truly love me, and they'll give me anything I want. They'll love me no matter how big a mess I make. From that perspective, I guess I've won a bit in terms of genuine feelings compared to you."

At that moment, my dad also pushed open the door and walked in, gently wrapping his arm around Jasmine's waist.

The two of them, shamelessly entangled right in front of me, quickly cuddled up and left together.

An overwhelming hatred had completely clouded my heart, even the pain seemed to fuel my determination.

I took out my phone, sent a message to Alec, and then quietly waited for the second time war to begin.

Soon, the sounds of fighting and shouting outside merged into chaos.

The sound of things being smashed pierced the darkness of the sky.

I knew this was my only chance to escape. Despite my legs still bleeding, I crawled and stumbled out of the Harrington family mansion.

The path down the mountain was pitch-black and terrifying.

There wasn't a single glimmer of light.

Yet it gave me immense hope and reassurance.

The continuous running had completely soaked my pants with blood, leaving long trails on the asphalt.

But I couldn't stop.

Just as I was about to collapse from exhaustion, a faint glow of headlights appeared on the opposite mountain road.It seemed someone had gotten out of the car and was walking towards me.

My vision went black, and I collapsed into a broad, warm embrace before completely losing consciousness.
