Chapter 16

I clutched my phone tightly, my heart pounding wildly in my chest.

It turns out I had indeed saved a girl in the past, but I had gradually forgotten about this incident over time.

"Later, Frost went to great lengths to find out your name and learned that you were a student at her school."

"She began writing you anonymous letters. Zeke, you must have received them, right?"

Suddenly, it all made sense.

In high school, I had indeed received many mysterious letters in succession.

The envelopes were unsigned, but inside were pages filled with various naive yet sensitive verses, like translations of a lonely girl's inner monologue.

At the time, I didn't think much of it, assuming it was just someone's boring prank.

Looking back now, I realize those were Frost's heartfelt thoughts, poured out to me day after day!

I remembered when I first applied for a job at the magazine, Frost sat behind her desk, staring at me intently for quite a while, her gaze complex and indecipherable.
