Chapter 1

1

In my previous life, Casper rescued me from the pool and fell in love at first sight.

In order to marry me, Casper kneeled outside Mr. Stratton's study for three days and three nights despite everyone's obstruction, and he finally agreed.

After marriage, we loved each other very much, but his childhood sweetheart Felicity became my biggest trouble.

We were jealous and fought for eight years.

Until I had two miscarriages, and Felicity was gradually neglected.

But as soon as Casper took over the Stratton family business, he asked for a divorce from me, and then turned around and held a century wedding with another woman - my former stepsister Delilah.

Felicity and I were both hurt.

One was trapped in a mental hospital and dying, and the other was pushed off a tall building by the two of them.

Before I died, I realized that everything was a conspiracy of my hateful stepsister Delilah and Casper.

As my eyes opened once more, I found myself on the brink of plunging into icy waters.

"Miss, be careful!" The waiter's alarmed cry sliced through the tense atmosphere.

In a split second, without a moment to think, I instinctively grabbed the man beside me, pulling him down with me.

"You..." I was about to speak when I suddenly realized - wasn't this the very man that all the high society debutantes dreamed of? None other than Burton, the eldest son of the Belmont family?

We tumbled together into the ornamental pool. I clung to him tightly as we became entangled in the water.

After being rescued, I continued to hold his waist firmly. I hadn't forgotten that I was wearing a strapless dress, which had slipped down during our struggle in the water. I used his body to shield myself.

He didn't pull away, his eyes filled with astonishment.

I forced myself to remain calm, glancing around. Massive crystal chandeliers hung overhead, while men and women in tuxedos and evening gowns mingled, drinks in hand.

Unbelievably, it seemed I had truly returned to Mrs. Stratton's birthday gala from years ago.

Back then, my stepsister had led me to the pool's edge and pushed me into the depths with her own hands.

In my previous life, I was saved from drowning by Casper.

We fell in love at first sight.

Mrs.Stratton stormed out of the dinner party in a rage. Her original intention had been to use the event to help her son get better acquainted with Felicity, the daughter of the Everhart family.

Instead, I had thrown a wrench in her plans, becoming a thorn in her side.

After I married Casper, she subjected me to extreme humiliation, calling me a shameless hussy who seduced men.

In the end, she frequently invited Felicity over as a guest in our home.

For eight years after the wedding, Felicity and I fought openly and secretly, both ending up worse for wear. Ironically, it was my conniving stepsister who reaped all the benefits.

But now that I've been given a second chance at life, there's still hope to turn things around. Starting from this moment of falling into the water, I can rewrite my destiny.

I whispered softly in Burton's ear, "I'm sorry."

He could have stayed out of this mess, but I've dragged him in for no good reason.

As the crowd grew larger, I covered my face and wept. Casper and my stepsister stood among them, their expressions terrifyingly dark.
