Cooper's Wonton is an old establishment with decades of history.
Every day, tourists flock there, making it incredibly busy.
Our school is in the North District.
The distance between south and north means it takes nearly two hours round trip.
Yet Vivienne loves their food.
She often asks me to buy it for her.
Although this time wasn't any different from before, I felt inexplicably uneasy.
I'm her boyfriend now, couldn't she spare a few more words for me?
But after all, I had pursued her relentlessly to become her boyfriend.
To save time, I paid extra for a delivery service.
Even so, it took two hours before I got the wontons.
Following Vivienne's directions, I found her in the cafeteria.
She was sitting with a group of friends.
Their table was littered with leftover wonton containers.
Seeing the wontons I was carrying, Vivienne's best friend Inez spoke up, "Elliot, you're so slow getting wontons. If we had to wait for you, Vivienne would've starved."
I examined the wonton containers on the table.
"You ate Cooper's?"
As a famous shop, Cooper's take-out packaging was never this plain.
"It's not Cooper's.Inez cast a sidelong glance at me. "But this is the wonton soup that Alec bought for Vivienne in his fancy car. Only locals truly know where to find the best food in a city. It's so much better than that Cooper's place."
Delicious?
I remained noncommittal.
One look at the number of wontons left in Vivienne's bowl told the real story about the taste.
The so-called "deliciousness" was nothing more than the luxury car effect.
But I was more concerned about something else.
"Vivienne, you called me to go buy it, and then you got another guy to help you buy it too?"
Vivienne just furrowed her brow slightly and uttered two words, "I didn't."
Seeing this, Inez immediately jumped in to explain, "Vivienne didn't do anything. I accidentally let it slip to Alec. If you're bothered by this, you're being too petty. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for not having a fancy car."
A girlfriend simultaneously asking her boyfriend and another admirer to buy things for her.
I don't think any man could graciously accept that.
"Elliot, can you give me the wonton soup? I'll save it for later, okay?"
As I watched Vivienne's outstretched hand reaching for the soup, that question I had deliberately forgotten resurfaced in my mind.
"Where's the bracelet I gave you?"This only hand is the one I put the bracelet on for her.
Now there's nothing on it.
"What?"
The sudden change in topic caught Vivienne off guard.
Noticing where my gaze lingered, she naturally pulled her hand back, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"It's not very convenient wearing the bracelet."
My tone cooled a few degrees, "Vivienne, do you really consider me your boyfriend?"
As soon as I said this, the entire room fell silent.
Then laughter erupted one after another.
"Elliot, are you still dreaming? Since when did you become Vivienne's boyfriend?"
Vivienne looked equally shocked and said apologetically, "I might have been too subtle yesterday, causing a misunderstanding. I never agreed to it."
I nodded, "I see. I was presumptuous."
I thought a nod without rejection meant agreement.
I thought accepting a gift meant agreement.
The others chimed in from the sidelines.
"Alec and Vivienne are still the best match. We used to only hear about how rich Alec's family is, and you can't really tell from his everyday clothes and stuff, but today I really felt it."
"Couldn't agree more.""Do you think all his clothes are custom-made?"
"It's possible. For all we know, Alec might be the young master of the Winters Family Group."
Someone let out an incredulous gasp.
The Winters Family Group was renowned nationwide.
It could be said that nearly half of those wanting to stay in this city hoped to work for the Winters Family.
Unfortunately, the Winters Family had no recruitment plans this year.
My eyes flickered.
The Winters Family, huh?
Before leaving, I didn't miss the blush that spread across Vivienne's face when Alec was mentioned.
Her goddess aura had completely shattered.
The reason I hadn't confronted her directly was because I hadn't bought back the bracelet yet.
