Chapter 8

From that day on, I had people secretly monitor Vivienne.

Vivienne ultimately didn't dare to make a fuss.

In the end, she could only go alone to a sketchy clinic for the procedure.

The surgery went wrong.

She was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

The nurses contacted her classmates, and since the parent's phone number on record at the school wasn't working, they all chipped in to cover the hospital fees.

Her life was saved.

But she would never be able to have children again.

Perhaps this blow was too great, and Vivienne let herself go wild.

She moved to a different place to work as a waitress.

Before long, she became the mistress of a business owner.

I'd heard of that businessman; he was nearly as old as her father.

I learned some details about Vivienne's family situation from her teacher.

Her father favored sons over daughters, and her weak-willed mother had passed away.

She was able to go to school only by working hard to earn her own tuition.
