A whole familiar world opened up to Leo. It was like he was there when it all happened. From his view, he was checking out the Earth from space, sitting on a large space debris and watching the blue globe go round and round. After a while, the camera which served as his eyes, started descending fast and straight at Earth.
Leo could almost feel the rush of wind in his eyes as the camera gathered speed, shooting like a destructive meteor straight into earth's atmosphere. But it didn't enter earth's atmosphere before the camera stopped. Once again, it landed on a space debris and scanned the nearby space. Glowing bright like a star at first, a very large space ship came ripping through space, knocking off space debris till it got into full view for Leo to observe. Behind the large space ship were thousands of other ships with lesser mass but with more flexibility.
The colossal spaceship loomed in the vastness of space, an imposing shape of gleaming metal that brought a sense of both awe and dread to Leo who was watching through the VR. Its smooth and lustrous exterior reflected starlight, casting an otherworldly glow across the space, while weird intricate patterns of shifting metal structures pulsated as if breathing, shifting and rearranging themselves in a terrifying manner.
Trailing in the ship's wake were thousands of smaller fighter ships darting about like buzzer insects, each one a lethal weapon of destruction. Their angular designs were sharp and aggressive, painted in dark, imposing colours that blended into the void of space. They twinkled like stars and they brought a majestic presence to the mother ship.
These are the Xollante Forces.
Leo felt a ting of anger welling inside of him. The feeling then turned to one of guilt. He still couldn't shake off the feeling that he could have had earth prepared for these monsters. Though it doesn't seem like earthlings had a chance against this scary fleet, but at least a substantial loss could have been on the Xollante's side too.
Next the camera flew away from the alien visitors and flew right into earth's atmosphere.
The VR camera started its descent, rapidly approaching Earth from space. Leo could feel his stomach churning as the camera picked up speed, hurtling towards the planet below. The sensation of falling was overwhelming, causing a sense of disorientation.
As the camera got closer, the viewer could see the curvature of Earth coming into view, the vivid colours of its atmosphere swirling around the edges. The blue oceans sparkled in the sunlight, contrasting with the brown and green land masses below. Clouds drifted lazily across the sky, casting shadows on the surface of the planet.
The atmosphere appeared to shimmer and shift as the camera descended further, the thin layer protecting Earth from the harsh emptiness of space. Leo could once again, almost feel the rush of air as the camera plunged towards the ground, the sensation amplified by the immersive VR experience.
As Earth grew larger and larger in Leo's field of vision, the overwhelming sense of motion and proximity caused his head to spin. He wasn't enjoying this any more. The sheer scale and beauty of the planet was awe-inspiring, but the intense feeling of speed and descent made it difficult to appreciate fully. The viewer couldn't help but feel a sense of relief when the camera finally halted to a stop a little while before hitting the ground, bringing an end to the dizzying experience.
The camera hovered above the Guardians of Earth's power station.
Leo was engulfed in a whirlwind of activity and urgency. Thousands of sleek and powerful space ships were seen ascending from the launch field in a rush, with their engines roaring and glowing with energy. The air crackled with anticipation as the Guardians prepared to counter the unexpected attack from the ruthless Xollante force.
The ground below trembled and shook beneath the weight of the ascending ships, sending vibrations through the Leo's senses. The rumbling intensified as more and more vessels took to the skies, their powerful engines propelling them towards the unknown dangers that awaited them.
As the last of the ships disappeared into the horizon, leaving trails of light and determination in their wake, Leo was left with a sense of admiration for the bravery and unity of the Guardians of Earth. With this fleet from Earth, he thought they could have stood a better chance if they were prepared. The sick feeling of regret set in his stomach again.
Then the VR camera followed the thousands of ships from the Guardians of Earth's base into space. Leo was thrust into the heart of a brutal and magical battle between two powerful forces. The scene was terrifying, with blinding flashes of light and explosive energy filling the void of space.
From the flexible smaller ships of the Earth's forces, bright beams of energy lanced out towards the buzzer-insect small ships surrounding the imposing mother ship of the Xollante. The incessant gunfire created a mesmerizing display of colors and lights, zigzagging through the darkness as the two opposing sides engaged in a deadly dance of combat. The agility and speed of the Earth ships against the battle ships from the Xollante seemed not to end already. The VR saves him the stress as it was fast-forwarded to a safe level where the battle was about to end.
Thousands of Xollante battle ships are now destroyed and floating in space like debrises. But despite the valiant efforts, the Earth ships found themselves outmatched by the sheer might of the Xollante's mother ship. The smaller Earth vessels struggled to break through the formidable defenses put up by the Xollante forces.
However, the Earth ships' perseverance and teamwork couldn't stand a chance as they ate now faced with the large, imposing, almost magical ship. It was too large to notice any weak spot to attack. Plus the fact that Earth's Forces has now been reduced to hundreds after the brutal battle with the swarming insects ships.
In a display of bravery and unity, the Earth forces launched a daring assault on the monstrous vessel, their determination shining through the chaos and destruction of the battle.
But nothing they did was able to even displace a plate from the ship. It stood still like it was resistant to anything that ever existed. And it was at that moment that the unexpected happened.
A slow fire-like ball was forming at the base of the Xollante ship. It took almost the whole length the ship to release this atrocious attack. The fire has been under the ship since their arrival on earth's space but the Guardians only thought it was a way the Xollante kept the ship moving, not knowing that it was a weapon of mass destruction. A weapon greater than Earth's atomic bombs.
After a while, the large fiery ball was propelled down to earth at the most insane speed ever imagined for a weapon. It descended with large fiery trails and broke the three threat barriers stationed by earth's guardians to block space attacks. But this was so powerful that the weapon terminators didn't work against it. It only slowed it down at some point only to regain it's former speed. It was like all the meteor showers combined into one and set on the fire by the most dangerous bio-fuel.
Leo could see it breaking Earth's atmosphere and going for the ground. He closed his eyes, as tears welled up in them.
He didn't know if he could control the camera focus but he wished he could see his town once more at the footage of the orphanage. And just like that, the camera stopped desceding with the Xollante weapon. With a soft click, the view changed to the front of the orphanage. Dust was everywhere was everyone ran for shelter, trying to escape the inescapable doom coming down on them. The dust cleared a little and Leo could see himself standing at the frontage, looking up at the burning threat as his mouth moved wordlessly. His gaze was lost and unfocused, yet his mouth never stopped moving.
Leo remembered what he was saying. "I have failed Earth. Luxus told me... I have failed Earth..."
This time, Leo was indeed crying under the VR machine over his face. He couldn't bring himself to see how the attack made impact, but he just had to. He wanted to see how he managed to survive something as deadly as this when nobody else from the South survived it.
A few seconds to the nuclear weapon making impact, Leo could see himself suddenly glowing. Everything else was glowing as well, in a colour of amber and red and reflecting the bright rays of the fiery attack approaching, but the colour that glowed around him was different. It has a purplish energy to it. He glowed brighter with each passing second till it felt like he was in a bubble.
He couldn't remember any of this happening that day, but it probably was because he was so mentally deranged after seeing the attack that he couldn't even make any attempt to escape like the others. He was just rooted in a spot, looking...and looking...till the impact.
The purple glow engulfed him completely as the ball of fire made impact. And there was no more to be seen. The camera couldn't pick anything up again. It's signal just got lost at that point. All Leo could see before him was black. That was the end of the summarized long history.
He removed the VR mask from his face and dug his face in his palms, crying his eyes out.
