Master's request
It was finally Monday. Just like yesterday Yamato had just entered highschool and in the blink of an eye the end of the first year in highschool was near. How Yamato spent the year, he himself didn't know. But the end of year exams has begun.
Yamato has never been that good in studying. This is a public school and the quality of teaching is poor, the fact that he could even read and write is very impressive. Not really, but the average student in his school is not really that smart making Yamato to be in the upper end on the scale of smart students in his school.
Besides he's not that bad since there are subjects he's quite good at. At most he struggles with most subject but maths is not one of them. For some reason he's very good with numbers.
The first exam subject was maths, a challenge Yamato gladly accepted even though most of his classmates were groaning about it. After working hard for almost an hour Yamato finally finished his paper and submitted it to the teacher.
He realized he somewhat prefers exams to normal school life. Cause unlike during normal school period that one is shut from class to class, during exams there are long breaks between papers. Like now there'll be a three hours break before the next paper he can use as he wants.
Walking out of the school he met up with his friends that also just came out from their exam halls.
"How's the paper?" Shandy asked.
"Difficult!" Zack shouted. His eyes were red shot. "Maths is really punishment from hell, which sins have we done to deserve this?!"
"Speak for yourself, Yamato looks alright,"
Hearing Shandy's words Zack turned to Yamato with an envious look. "Really can you tell me your secret?"
"I won't," Yamato smiled. "After all you are better then me in all subjects except maths and has more possibility of passing this test. If you also learn maths won't you surpass me in everything!"
"True but still..." Zack sagged dejectedly.
"Anyway didn't Yamato tell us that he's going to buy a phone today?" Shandy righted her glasses and said.
"Yeah great, now we can chat on GG,"
They continued talking as they walked out of the school compound.
Earlier Shandy had promised Zack and Yamato that she could introduce them to her uncle who is a Tribe master in the Underground fight. But in the end only Zack decided join the Underground.
But now even Zack has withdrawn. His excuse being that his father grounded him after he came out clean about the matter with Mr Leonard last time.
The three friends walked to the phone store two blocks away from Fourth High. It was a large store with glass walls in which one could see different kinds of phones on display. Yamato is clueless about this kind of things so he felt overwhelmed.
However it wasn't anything for Shandy and Zack. They'd asked him his budget and he told them 3000 notes which is the addition of the 200 notes Charles gave him for that fight plus the 850 notes he got paid for being a tour guide. The rest was all his savings.
Raking up all this cash had made Yamato basically penniless. Usually that would have been bad but now he wasn't worried. His money is spent to buy food but now with his master that wasn't a problem, he can eat for free in her house.
Thinking of that his friends have already started checking out phones for him. Shandy pointed at a smart phone in the display case and asked for the price. The sales girl said it was 10,000 notes, so Shandy asked her to bring forth ones with lower prices.
Yamato didn't know what the fuss is about, why Shandy kept inspecting the phones and asking questions; all these phones looked the same to him and they were far better than the one he had so any one of them will do.
In the first place he had even planned to buy a used phone, which is cheaper, but Shandy had advised him to just buy a new one since he has the money.
Anyway after inspecting different phones carefully for long time Shandy and Zack finally agreed on a black smart phone. It wasn't as big as the phones his richer classmates use but was far bigger than his previous one and it seems to be from a good company too.
He bought it for just above 2800 notes. After that he had to spend more money for the sale girl to fix everything for him so he could access the internet and make calls. He also used the time to exchange his old phone for some pocket money; being an outdated model he got only 200 notes for it.
At last when he came out of the store it was almost time for his next paper so he didn't have time to play with the phone. He had to rush back for biology exam.
After school Yamato had time for his new phone, playing with it on the road home, fascinated by what it has to offer. Yamato found a place by the side of the road to explore the phone. Signing into GG chat he saw many familiar people like his classmates, people from work and even neighbors. Following Shandy's instruction he added Zack and her to his Friend List before pocketing the phone reluctantly and buried to Dragon Park.
Yamato didn't get ambushed in the forest when he arrived. At the front of the old house he saw no one. Curious he weaved through the hidden traps around the yard and went into the house.
"Come out back," his master called from the backyard. When Yamato came out he saw her teaching Tila something in the middle of the yard.
His master kept instructing her daughter in their foreign language. Sometimes even if Yamato is looking at their grey skin he forgets that they are not actually humans. However he could never get used to their language as it sounded too sharp as if it'll hurt his throat if he tried.
At times they sound light coughing other times like choking birds. It made Yamato feel like speaking Alrers will be quite a task.
This is not the first time Yamato see Katrina training her daughter. Though what she's teaching her, he has no idea. He fetched some snacks from the kitchen and sat on a tree stump to watched them.
Master is very beautiful, he thought secretly. In fact besides Elizabeth he'd never seen anyone as beautiful his master. Today she was wearing a white shirt and blue baggy pants with her red hair held in a pony tail. The silver lines like veins that marred her skin made her even more striking.
'Might use this opportunity to practice,'
Yamato took a deep breath and started revolving his breathing technique. He created the fire in his mind but didn't throw anything in it right away. Master had warned him never to put his emotions in the fire, no matter which kind, besides that he can throw anything.
He leaned back against the wall and stared at Katrina and Tila pondering at the mysteries of the breathing technique. Yamato has learned a few words of Alrer from his time with his master and could pick out that Katrina kept saying 'focus'.
After hours of training where both Katrina and Tila looked frustrated, Katrina let her daughter go back into the house to rest then she walked over and sat on the tree stump beside Yamato.
"I'll be going on a journey soon, disciple. I hope you can take care of Tila before I return," Katrina said.
Yamato was shocked. "Where are you going Master?"
"To give my daughter a better life," Katrina sighed looking weary. "Since we are already in your human realm, I want her to go to school too and blend with other children,"
"But how? With her appearance it'll be troublesome," Yamato imagined other people seeing Tila's grey skin and didn't know how they'll react.
"That's right. But you have a wise Master,"
"Do you have a solution?"
"Hmm, I just have to teach her an illusion technique. But with the scarce chi in your human realm even taking chi into her body is impossible at the moment,"
Yamato has learned a lot things from Katrina he didn't know before. Apparently 'chi' is a kind of mystical energy that could be taking into the body to strengthen it and also helps one to cultivate mysterious techniques that looks like magic.
These techniques are very powerful and could be used in fighting. However the human realm is lacking in chi Yamato couldn't learn it right now.
"Because of your dried up Realm, that's why humans can't step into the greater Cosmic matters," Katrina sneers and continued. "Anyway this time around I wish to go to Skrap to find an artifact that can gather chi,"
"Are you able to get it?" Yamato asked. Skrap is a mysterious place in the human realm that makes all kinds of amazing technology. But Yamato heard that entering that place is very hard as they only let in government officials and the very rich.
"Nothing your Master can't handle," Katrina smiled mysteriously. "Little disciple, you are going on holidays soon, I want you to babysit Tila... I know you have a job and parents but I'll have to trouble you.."
"Don't worry master," Yamato clenched his fist and said. "Whatever you want I'll do it!"
"What filial disciple," Katrina sighed. "I won't be gone for the whole holiday. But at the least two weeks, so you have to stay here all day. That means you'll sleep here too," Katrina thought he didn't know what babysitting Tila entails that's why he agreed quickly so she started explaining.
Yamato glared at her. "Relax Master I'll never leave Tila alone here!"
"Don't glare at your Master," Katrina said rising to her feet and ruffled his hair, making him pout. "I'll leave a lot of provisions for you and even money. You'd have to do your training each day though so you don't slack off,"
"Okay,"
Yamato clenched his fist as he thought that this is the first time his Master is really relying on him. 'This time I have to do my best!'
