'It burns! Fuck please, stop...'

Another injection through the back, the constant shuffle through of another solution had A foaming out the mouth.

'Please...'

He had certainly died many times as the woman's words rang true. But the amount of suffering had him believing that this place he was in, was hell.

"Mmmmph-!?" Another shot.

The struggling only made it even more painful but the burning and needle aggression through his body had it thrash around wildly.

If there was a God, they certainly couldn't hear his plead.

"Shut it off, it seems like he's unresponsive to the normal solutions by the look of it" Na'al had walked in with Dr Molten and watched without words at first.

But it seemed that her words were true upon walking here, this individual wasn't responding to the gene solution. A solution given to Messengers to awaken their abilities and potentials.

In cases like this it was said higher doses may be needed but it's not ethical. Especially considering A26 was in fact, a human.

"It's quite rare to see a human pass the trail for the position of a Messenger. Yet his body is so weak and he's quite young" Na'al finished as he looked at the Dr's notes she'd written previously. That along with the gene solutions she had tested him with through cycled intervals.

"What are we to do with him Sir? We can't send him back to the troop lines without it. He'd be killed instantly-"

"-Maybe that's for the better, HR has been very picky with cases like this as of recently. Truthfully, I couldn't care less about a human much less a system error." Interrupted Na'al as the Dr pursed her lips in disagreement.

It was no secret that her superior didn't care much for new troops unless they showed immaculate potential in the first stages. Those who reacted immediately with the gene solutions usually adapted and advanced faster than those who had to bare much pain like A26.

"What are you suggesting then?" She asked as Na'al wrote off A26 as F class tier.

"Send him back but not to the troops, I'd rather not deal with another touchy case. Especially considering the recent issues with the Lord's. Give him to the mining team-" walking around her observation office, Na'al took one final glance at A26 before heading in the direction of the exit. "-At least if he dies in the mines, no one will question it."

Finally taking his leave Veronica sighed, she had no right to challenge his authority. What he said was law in his own sector unless challenged by higher authority.

Looking through the one way glass to A26, she saw his body convulsing and going in and out of consciousness.

You'd think this would kill a person, however the room itself was programmed with resurrection magic for this exact purpose. To go through intense and often life or death situations until awakened. It was no walk in the park to inject new genetic material into an individual after all. One's whole appearance and more could change with the right solution, causing the chain reaction of an awakening.

The system was 'usually' never wrong in its selection process considering how hard the initial challenges to come here were.

"Dr Molten, you requested extraction?" Came a service attendant from an open line through the system interface.

"That's correct, I have a NA-TS, code 023D, ID A26, requesting relocation on command of Head of Sector Na'al." Her fingers had her sharp nails press against the interface, as she typed her proceedings through.

"We've received relocation application - hold one moment as we verify -"

[Authorising]

[Access denied]

'What?' She thought as she typed her code in again.

[Access denied, please seek HR for further information]

"What is the meaning of this!?" She Shouted as the person on the other end came back stating that authorisation had been cancelled.

"I can see it's been cancelled but on what grounds!?" Dr Molten aka Veronica was the second in command of this sector. She should have had clearance to authorise this command.

"I'm terribly sorry Dr but the system has stated you're not enough clearance to make this authorisation."

Not enough clearance!? For A26 who showed up only hours ago!?

"On what terms!? The transfer or authority!?"

"Both ma'am"

'What the hell!?' Exiting the office she re-entered her code to the door and opened up to where A26 sat.

She'd already disabled the chair prior and was now was looking at A26 with a perplexed expression.

Black medium wavy hair, pale complexion, average body, no matter how much she observed him. There was no reason her authority would have been challenged unless he had awakened or-

Ending the call for transfer, she called HR, the system screen interface popped up only to expand bigger.

HR were essentially the system itself,

Lord's after all are confined to only certain areas and abilities in domains that aren't theirs.

> How can we assist?

It's always the same, you never see HR representatives unless you're a Lord or of other importance.

It's always a separate spare tab that would appear instead.

> Authorisation denied, need clearance for ID A26

> A26.... access is denied

Getting further fustrated she tried to remain calm. Why would a mere humans files be locked to this degree that even HR refused access!?

> Been given directive by Head of Sector 4 Na'al for transfer of A26 to the mines.

> On what grounds?

Shit, she hadn't thought that far... one what grounds-?

> A system error

She typed as he reptilian eyes followed her words as the appeared.

[Checking system 7 for malfunction]

[Please wait]

What if she made the wrong call? Well even if she did, it wasn't her directive. But Na'al would have to justify his decision if no error is found. But then again, what about the determined fate of A26?

[Analysis completed]

> System 7 is functional, no errors found.

> Authorisation denied.

Now what? Did she put him down there anyway through shady means or send him back with a clear directive that was denied by HR!?

Both were bad outcomes for her and her position, HR is law but the Head of Sector is law in his own domain.

HR can only have say in things that collectively affect other Systems or sectors or if Lord's and other authorities are involved.

> Received

Ending her connection with HR she sighed, never in all her time here, did she have an issue like this.

It was common for errors to slip through when programming malfunctioned due to magic fluxes but this was entirely different.

If she reported to Na'al now after he'd given his directive, he might as well just kill A26 in a fit of rage.

As much as the Head of Sector was a strong figure and much respected. He was respected because he was feared for his ruthlessness.

HR only cares about power in aspects of being a Sector representative, no matter how corrupt or insane they are.

Controlling them is easy when you have them applied to the strings of that power given by the System.

By now her pacing back and forth had her tail dragging on the floor, almost portraying her disheartened emotional turmoil.

Suddenly she stopped, there was one place Veronica could send him that no one would really take notice to check.
