Ch 6: Mother and Son

After doting on her son for some time, Leyla finally asked Alexis how his expedition went.

Alexis had nothing to hide from her mother and so he told her most of the things while down playing a little bit about how much dangerous his situation was.

But Leyla was well aware that her son was always trying not to worry her, so she was able to understand how much danger her dear son needed to face in this adventure.

But when Alexis told her that he was successful in activating his ability, she sighed in relief and become overjoyed.

When her son had told her about his ability, Leyla had a very hard time believing and understanding it as that ability was too fantastical. But with her firm trust in her son, she decided to completely believe it and had tried her best to assist him.

The items that Alexis had used in the danger zone were something that Leyla was hiding as her Trump Card. They were quite valuable so she could either use them to ask other nobles for help or could sell for a lot of money.

But as her son needed them, she did not think even twice and handed them to her son. Those items had the power to change Leyla's future but she handed that to her son without a second though or any hard feelings.

After Alexis told Leyla everything, they remained silent for some time. Then at the same time, both of them blust out in laughter.

The mother and son pair had endured hardship for quite some time but now it was finally their time to rise up.

But they still needed to wait until the Divine Awakening ceremony, so the mother and son decided to keep acting lowkey for a little bit more.

Still, as it was the happiest day of their life, not celebrating it was a waste. So Alexis again used the robe to sneak out of the house and went to the market.

In the last five years, he had managed to save a decent amount of money. It was not a lot but was enough to buy expensive ingredient to prepare a feast.

Previously he was extremely cautious with the money as the avenues he had for earning it were very limited.

But now with his newfound power, Alexis was confident in earning as much money as he wanted easily. If nothing was available, Alexis was planning to just loot a few corrupt nobles.

So, after going to the market, Alexis did not worry about how much money he was spending and bought any and all ingredients that he found to be good.

But as he was not satisfied with the choice of meat available in the market, he went out of the city for a little bit to hunt a few rabbit monsters.

Monsters had high concentration of natural essence in their body which made them stronger and different than most animals. For that same reason, their meat was also tastier.

After Alexis returned, Leyla cooked up a luxurious feast for the both of them. It had been almost a decade since she had cooked so many dishes, so she was a bit nervous if her cooking skills were still up to the needed standard.

But it turned out that her cooking skill had not declined at all and she was able to make very tasty dishes. The scene of her sweet little son was enjoying her dishes made her extremely happy and satisfied as a mother.

There were two types of skills in this world. One was inherent special ones that people had since their their birth and would awaken during the Divine Awakening ceremony.

Other than those skills, there were also acquired skills that a person could learn with practice and hard work. Some skills could even be inherited by learning of from a master. Sword mastery, cooking, presence isolation and many other skills were part of this category.

Cooking was one of the skills that Leyla had but due to her not using it for a long time, the skill level had fallen from 5 to 3.

But after she did her best to make the best food for her son, her lowered skill level immediately jumped and even advenced to level 6. Alexis found this to be very interesting.

Among the skills that he had gotten from the dragon, quite a few were actually acquired skills.

But he had gotten all of them at a very high level and the knowledge related to the skills had also appeared in his mind when he became aware of them.

So it looked like his overpowered Blood Inscription ability was not only capable of absorbing the ability of a being but also the memories related to that ability. That was something Alexis wanted to research a little bit.

He had been researching about skills since he had gotten his status panel. But he had noticed that even with his status panel, without the divine awakening ceremony he was unable to acquire any skills.

So for this research of his, his mother had become his test subject with her own will. She had followed her son's instructions to get some common acquired skills.

With Leyla's help, Alexis had managed to figure out the requirement for many skills, and now he wanted his mother to learn a few combat related skills from him.

Most of the acquired skills that the dragon had were related to combat. So if Leyla could learn even one of them, her strength would increased by a lot.

The amount of essense she had was actually above average for a regular human and with enough training she could even increase her capacity bit by bit. Alexis was making her to train her essense since he had also started training which was fine years ago. So currently Leyla had a decent amount of essence to utilise.

She also had mana sensitivity of D and aura sensitivity of C which were not bad. Alexis was actually trying to find a way to increase them, but for the time being, he did not know of any ways to do that.

So instead of worrying about that, he decided to do what he was able to do in the current time. And that was to teach his mother a powerful combat skill.

After going through the list of skills that Leyla was able to learn, Alexis decided on a skill called "Elemental Enchantment".

This was one of the simplest skill that the dragon had and it allowed someone to cover their weapon or even their body part in an element that they had affinity for.

It was also a skill that was usable by both a mana and an aura user. Not only that but their was no harsh requirement to learn the skill except for having an elemental affinity which fortunately Leyla had.

So until it was time for the Divine Awakening ceremony, Alexis decided to spend his time teaching his mother about this skill and also practicing his own skills to make them combat ready.

Just having the skill did not mean that skill was ready to be used in a fight. Without proper understanding and practice, Alexis knew that he would not be able to perfectly utilise his powers.

So, before the arrival of the day when Alexis would reveal his strength to the world, he was planning to make himself as strong as possible with pratice and hard work.
