Ch 14: Sweet Sweet Revenge

The manor of Baron Lapis was decorated very grandly for the large occasion. As this was a big day for him, Baron Lapis made sure to decorate the place to the best of his ability.

For this party of his, other than the neighbouring lords, baron Lapis had also invited count Kensas who was his superior. He was not sure if he would attend this party or not but if he did, Baron's prestige among the other lords would rise significantly.

In this nation, baron and viscounts were under the supervision of high ranking nobles like counts or marquises. And even those high ranking nobles were under the three ducal family. Finally the three ducal family were under the king. That was the nobility structure of this country.

As the evening time came, many nobles started to appeared. The baron was extremely happy to find that almost all the invited lords had came to the party including the count himself.

Baron Lapis had thought that the count would at most send a proxy in his place to attend. So he was very surprised when the count himself had appeared. But that also made the baron extremely prideful.

So with that pride of his exceptional position, the baron was finally able to get rid of the fear that he was suffering from all this time. Now with a relaxes mind he went to address all the nobles at the start of the party.

Just as the baron was about to give a speech with a wine glass in his hand, a new group of people suddenly appear in the hall where the party was taking place. They were not invited guest, so Baron Lapis was immediately displeased by this.

But just as he was about to say something regarding this situation, the person who had entered the hall immediately declared himself as the royal envoy and took out a royal decree.

As soon as that announcement was made, all the noble present in the hall went on their knees. This was the custom of the nation. Whenever they were receiving a royal decree, the nobles should be on their knees.

After seeing that all the nobles were properly on their knees, the royal envoy started to read the decree. As the content of the decree was revealed, Baron Lapis' hands started to went cold.

According to the royal decree, the supervision of the domain of Lapis would be taken away from count Kensas and instead it would be given to Archduke Langesior.

Obviously this Archduke Langesior was none other than Alexis. After getting his new noble rank this was the surname he had chosen. The word Langesior was an ancient term which meant "Strongest of the Heroes".

After reading the royal decree, the envoy next took out another decree. He declared that this decree was from the Archduke himself.

As the Archduke was supposed to get the same treatment as the king, the nobles continued to stay on one knee. Seeing this the royal envoy was satisfied and started reading the decree out aloud.

According to this decree, as this domain was far away from his residence so the Archduke would leave the management of this place to someone else.

That person would come to live in this city so the baron had to move away to a different house as his mansion was the only place that was somewhat worthy of a person of such high rank.

Even after hearing the royal decree, Baron Lapis had somehow managed to keep himself in check and did not lash out in front of a royal envoy and so many nobles.

But after knowing that he was getting kicked away from his own house, the baron was unable to control himself anymore and stood up with a red face.

Seeing this reaction, the royal envoy smirked just for a moment and then his expression changed. He looked at baron Lapis with anger in his eyes and shouted -

"How dare you disrupt a decree from the Archduke. Guards, arrest this poor excuse of a noble."

Immediately the two people who were beside the royal envoy moved. With the way they moved, their stats were surely in the range of 200 which was very impressive.

The baron was no match for warriors this strong. So in no time, he was apprehended and pushed down to the ground. He did try his best to resist and even used his skill to cover his fists in ice but the guards were too strong and was able to capture the baron without even using their own skills.

Seeing that the venue was now calm again, the royal envoy continued. Next he was going to introduce the person who was going to be the new governor of this domain.

The door to the hall opened again and all the noble present gasped in surprise. An extremely beautiful woman entered the hall through the open gates.

She was wearing a expensive dress that was tightly hugging her extremely hot body. Her beautiful black hair was tied up in a ponytail, giving the lady a valiant look. All in all, with her beauty, none of the nobles were able to keep their eyes away from her.

After entering the hall, the beautiful lady smiled sweetly and greeted the royal envoy. The royal envoy also respectfully greeted her back and introduced the lady to the nobles present in the hall.

Immediately afterwards another bomb fell in the room. All the nobles were extremely surprised to know that this lady was was the mother of the Archduke. After knowing this, all the nobles immediately respectfully greeted her.

Leyla smiled at the nobles and greeted them back. The way she acted radiated authority and charisma. It was impossible for anyone to believe that she had been living in poverty for the last decade. From the way she acted now, she looked more proper than most nobles.

After greeting and introducting herself to the other nobles and she finally went to greet her ex-husband who was still pinned to the ground. Seeing Leyla coming toward him with slow but steady steps, Baron Lapis started greeting his teeth in anger. Then he started shouting again.

"This city belongs to me and my Lapis family. There is no way a cheap harlot like this can manage it."

With every word that the baron said, massive amount anger radiated from his body. But no one paid attention to that. Not the guards who were pinning him down and not even Leyla who was the target of his words.

Leyla was not even angry with the insults that was thrown toward her. Instead she started laughing and then said in amusing and belittling tone -

"Fufu, baron Lapis sure can talk a lot, huh ? Even in a situation like this, your mouth is working quite hard. But let me remind you of something."

Saying so, Leyla show him to the part of the decree where it was written that from now on, Leyla would have perfect control over the city of Lapis.

This perfect control included the power to dismiss the current ruling family if she judged them to be unfit for the position. As the baron started to realise this fact, his red angry face started to turn white in fear.

For baron Lapis, the most important thing of his life was his identity as a prestigious noble. But now that Leyla had the power to stript that identity from him, baron Lapis immediately lost all colours from his face after realising this fact.
