Facing Ricardo Vargas' cold demeanor, Dr. Kimberly maintained an unchanged expression, smiling with grace and poise.
She could understand. Generally, people in such situations didn't have the most amiable of personalities.
"Mr. Vargas, if you wish to send me away, you might have to ask the old lady to come herself. After all, I was engaged at a high price by the old lady."
Ricardo Vargas stared at her icily.
"Actually, you don't need to be so guarded against me. I wonder if you still remember, Mr. Vargas, that we met at the downtown hospital several years ago. Back then, I was just a young intern. I made a mistake and was severely scolded by the director. It was you who happened to pass by and said a few kind words for me. Since then, your proud image has been engraved in my memory. Later, I heard that something happened to you. And after that, more and more rumors and gossip about you circulated. I really wanted to help you, but I always fell short. It wasn't until I heard the dean mention that the old lady was looking for someone that I used some of my personal connections to replace the professional doctor who was supposed to come and came here myself, all for the chance to see you."
As for the scene Dr. Kimberly described, Ricardo Vargas had long since forgotten.
"Don't worry. I'm a professional in this field and I'm sure I can cure your condition. I treat several patients like you every month." Dr. Kimberly was full of confidence. She thought that no matter how cold - hearted a man was, he couldn't possibly remain unmoved in the face of a beauty like her.
Ricardo Vargas' cold eyes narrowed slightly.
"Don José, take her out."
Don José, who was outside the door, trembled slightly. He thought he had hidden himself quite well!
The old lady rolled up her sleeves and rushed in without hesitation.
"Grandson, you should treat your illness as soon as possible! Do you really want to气死 me (drive me to death)? I went through so much trouble to find you a doctor. Can't you just be a bit more cooperative? Are you planning to remain without descendants for the rest of your life?"
Ricardo Vargas' face darkened. "Grandma..."
"Ouch!" The old lady clutched her chest, using her usual trick. "It hurts so much!" She kept winking at Dr. Kimberly.
Dr. Kimberly understood.
"Mr. Vargas, don't make the old lady angry. You can rest assured. I won't take up much of your time. It will be over in at most half an hour." With that, she took out a black blindfold from her bag and handed it to Ricardo Vargas.
The old lady hurriedly snatched it, her action preceding her words.
"Quick! Put it on!"
Instantly, boundless darkness enveloped.
Don José hesitated to speak. Looking at the old lady's relieved expression, he couldn't help but ask in a low voice.
"What if Mrs. Vargas comes back later and sees this? Won't she be angry?"
"How could she be angry? Aurora has a very good temper. Besides, I'm trying to cure my grandson's illness. Don't worry." The old lady was full of confidence.
But for some reason, Don José felt extremely uneasy.
The door was gently closed, leaving only a small crack for them to peek through.
Inside the room, Dr. Kimberly slowly lit an aromatherapy candle. The faint lily fragrance had a calming and relaxing effect.
"Mr. Vargas, there's no need to be nervous. We can chat like friends. Do you like going to bars, Mr. Vargas? When was the last time you had contact with a woman?"
No matter what questions Dr. Kimberly asked, Ricardo Vargas remained silent. His hands, placed on his knees, were tightly clenched into fists. If he were to take off the blindfold, one could surely see the intense displeasure and restlessness between his brows. If it weren't for his concern for the old lady's frail health, he wouldn't have allowed this woman in front of him to act so presumptuously.
"What kind of girls do you like, Mr. Vargas? Mature ones, or those with a youthful, student - like air? Or perhaps intellectual or charming ones..." Dr. Kimberly's voice seemed to come from all directions.
In Ricardo Vargas' mind, a figure gradually emerged.
Aurora Morales.
He had never thought that a woman could master her temperament so well. He still remembered that night when they first met. She was like a grown - up fairy.
But the second time they met, her calm aloofness, along with the occasional shyness and cuteness that emerged, were deeply engraved in his heart. He couldn't forget them for a long time.
Dr. Kimberly noticed that his fists were gradually relaxing. She smiled and walked to his side, bent down slightly, and exhaled softly into his ear.
"What do you think of me, Mr. Vargas?" Her voice was seductive, stretching the ending syllable. Her hand slowly reached out to rest on Ricardo Vargas' shoulder.
Ricardo Vargas snorted coldly. He was about to move his foot to avoid her.
Suddenly, the door was kicked open with a bang!
Dr. Kimberly's hand froze in mid - air.
Aurora Morales was holding a cake in her hand. Her stunning features carried a hint of coldness. Perhaps because she had drunk a little wine in the evening, her cheeks were naturally flushed, making her look extremely beautiful. In comparison, Dr. Kimberly's beauty seemed to pale in comparison.
The old lady said from the side, "Aurora, Aurora, you..."
Before she could finish, Aurora Morales walked over unhurriedly, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
Dr. Kimberly was also looking at her. Deep in her eyes, a flash of intense jealousy passed.
"A doctor?" Aurora Morales asked indifferently.
"Yes." Dr. Kimberly straightened up, responding with a hint of provocation.
"Where are you from?"
"Downtown Hospital. Invited by the old lady."
Dr. Kimberly shifted the blame to the old lady. The old lady smiled sheepishly, retreating as she said, "Aurora, don't be angry. I just wanted to treat Ricardo's illness..."
Don José quietly pulled the old lady away, in case she got caught in the crossfire.
"Does the treatment need to be so elaborate?" Aurora Morales walked over to the aromatherapy candle, bent down to take a light sniff, and then extinguished it. The corner of her lips curled up as she said meaningfully, "Does the teacher who taught you these skills know that you use such unorthodox methods to treat people?"
Dr. Kimberly felt a twinge of panic in her heart but pretended to be calm.
"What do you mean? I don't understand."
Aurora Morales elongated the "oh" sound, took off Ricardo Vargas' blindfold, and looked at her with a faint smile that was not quite a smile.
"I'm really curious. How do you cure your patients? By sleeping with them?"
Dr. Kimberly's face changed dramatically. She flew into a rage.
"Miss, you're being too disrespectful! I'm a professional doctor. I won't allow you to slander my profession! I don't care who you are. You've interrupted my treatment of the patient. Now, please leave immediately, right this moment!"
Aurora Morales' gaze turned cold. She raised her hand.
A slap landed.
Slap!
Dr. Kimberly was stunned. Aurora Morales sneered.
"A professional doctor? More like a professional bed - climber! You know better than I do what's added to this aromatherapy candle. And..." Aurora Morales yanked off the name tag hanging from the front of her white coat.
"The invited doctor doesn't have the surname Kimberly, does she?"
