They spent the next hour riding together in a horse-drawn carriage.
Risha showed him five to six more houses:
A grand mansion overlooking cliffs.
A hidden underground base.
A fortified tower in the woods.
None satisfied him.
Kaito shook his head at each one, growing more and more annoyed.
"Still too weak. Too easy to break into. I’m not looking for some merchant's summer home," he said coldly after the sixth house.
Risha bit her lip, frustrated... but then her eyes gleamed mischievously.
"Alright, there’s one more," she said. "But... it’s a bit of a... special case."
Kaito narrowed his eyes. "Explain."
"There’s an old mansion on the northern outskirts of Veydrass," Risha said. "Huge, fortified, ancient magic reinforcement in its walls. Secluded. Gorgeous view. Big enough for twenty people comfortably."
"And the problem?" Kaito asked, voice sharp.
