A Dangerous Gamble

After what felt like an eternity of running, they finally reached a small, secluded cave by the river’s edge. It was barely large enough for the three of them to fit, but it offered shelter and, most importantly, cover from the Syndicate’s men.

Thalia collapsed against the wall of the cave, breathing heavily. David and Clarissa weren’t far behind, both equally exhausted.

“We’re safe for now,” David said, his voice rough with fatigue. “But they won’t stop looking for us.”

Clarissa pulled out the camera from her bag, her hands shaking slightly. “We got what we came for,” she said, her voice filled with both relief and anxiety. “But it’s not over yet.”

Thalia nodded, wiping the sweat from her brow. “We need to regroup and figure out our next move. This evidence is useless if we can’t get it to the right people.”

David leaned back against the wall, his eyes narrowing in thought. “The Nine Dragons are powerful. Even with this evidence, it’s going to be hard to take them down.”
